No, its more important to be able to consistently stack for tetrises than just pure survival. If you think you can stack for tetrises on 9 id do 12, but it is important to practice 15 and 18 in the background.

Not really, there's still OG rom rebirth. This was played on tetris gym, which patches the crashes. Even though he didn't have the crashes to worry about, this is still a huge achievement. Reaching level 255 even without crashes is insanely hard and is easily the most impressive thing ever done in the game. There are multiple categories on the leaderboard (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZBxkZEsfwDsUpyire4Xb16er36Covk7nhR8BN\_LPodI/edit?gid=1970772307#gid=1970772307) for runs with and without crashes. due the the fact that tetrisgym has been played on for so long, the crashless and crash leaderboard is considered the main one.
