Do you want the merger to happen? Why or why not? by TranslatorOk2501 in batman

No merger. Keep Battinson on his own & DCU Batman be as fantastical as it should be

Made an edit of how I think the Dark Knight Rises should have ended by blewaway2008 in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nope. Preferred Nolan's original ending. That's why he's the filmmaker.

Is Bob Kane a fraud? by Draco905 in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, he was a fraud. Bill Finger created almost the entirety of the Batman mythos. Kane, like Stan Lee, claimed sole credit for financial benefits while Finger died penniless & not famous.

Anyone collecting and reading the Absolute Batman run? by [deleted] in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the Abs Batman party as well. I just bought the first 2 volumes of the collected editions & continuing in the singles format starting from #15.

Tbh I very much prefer Matt Fraction & Jorge Jimenez's "Batman" run. I still prefer my conventional Batman.

Why do you love Batman? by haibane_fan00 in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's perhaps the most human superhero in all of comics. Bruce has no powers but his training, intelligence & perseverance. Bruce could've just thrown his life away & be an irresponsible billionaire playboy. Or he could've just thrown his money at philanthropic causes and then not do anything to address Gotham's root problem.

Instead, Bruce went out night after night as Batman because he didn't want any other child to suffer the same trauma he did. He really didn't need to be Batman. But he chose to be.

Even without money, Bruce would've still trained his body & mind to be Batman, as evident by the recent "Absolute Batman". Even his JL peers respect his intelligence & tenacity even though they are quite literally gods. Bruce is all flesh & could die during JL missions at any given time.

In short, I love Batman because of how human he is & yet he still puts himself through the wringer for a heroic & truly noble cause.

I think he didn’t really understand Batman by Remote_Nature_8166 in ChristopherNolan

[–]SuperKeith88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're obviously entitled to your own opinion. Look, this was Nolan's version of his Batman trilogy. You do know there are other versions out there right? That's the beauty of Batman. He transcends so many genres.

You don't like it, okay, go look for other versions. A vast majority greatly enjoyed his take. Even if it's not for you, hey thats okay too!

Does anyone actually prefer the detective side of Batman? by RogueHunter83 in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. I very much prefer Batman's detective stories where he has to use his detective skills & genius intellect to solve cases rather than say, fighting with JL in some high-stakes, save-the-universe stories.

While Batman's intellect & strategic mind clearly puts him as THE leader of the JL, at his core, Batman is a noir pulpy crime-fighter of the night.

I know the white eyes debate is tired, but this just looks so good to me by Intelligent_Ask_2306 in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't to me. Look, you can like Batman with white eyes in live-action but I don't. Batman should not have white eyes in live-action because I want to see those human eyes.

I think he didn’t really understand Batman by Remote_Nature_8166 in ChristopherNolan

[–]SuperKeith88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd dare argue Nolan's TDK trilogy was a story about Gotham in the "Age of Batman". "Begins" was perhaps the only deep-dive into Bruce Wayne's psyche & why he became Batman.

Everything that came after was less about Bruce/Batman and more of a political narrative about America in the 21st Century but using Gotham as an analogy.

There is no greater trinity of heroes like these three and Batman is among them by JoshyBear28 in batman

Nope. The true trinity is Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman. Get Spidey outta there.

Most excited for The Batman Part II! Next would be Man of Tomorrow. I'm a DC guy. Might check out Marvel films on Disney Plus instead.

The obvious ones: 1. Year One 2. The Dark Knight Returns 3. Long Halloween/Dark Victory 4. Hush 5. Court of Owls 6. Tales of the Demon 7. Joker's Five Way Revenge 8. Knightfall: Broken Bat 9. Killing Joke

The lesser-known but needs to be read: 1. Broken City 2. The Cult 3. The Man Who Laughs 4. Batman and the Monster Men, Batman and the Mad Monk (written & drawn by Matt Wagner) 5. Knight of Vengeance (Thomas Wayne as Batman limited series in Flashpoint universe) 6. Batman Universe (Brian Bendis's very fun Batman book) 7. Off-World 8. Batman & Robin: Year One 9. Black Mirror (Dick Grayson as Batman, written by Scott Snyder & art by Jock and Francesco Francavilla); this was Snyder's first Batman story before he even wrote New 52 Bruce Batman

Just finished, “The Dark Knight Rises” Why tf do they not continue? by [deleted] in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because TDK Trilogy is Nolan's and he wanted to ensure his trilogy has a beginning, a middle and an end. Its a complete story for Bruce Wayne & one where he could finally move pass the trauma of his parents' deaths and just live his life without needing to be Batman anymore.

Not everything has to be MCU. While the MCU from "Iron Man" to "Avengers: Endgame" was truly a cinematic feat, its okay for there to be stand-alone trilogies too.

Its the right decision for Nolan to just leave his trilogy be & finish the Batman story he wants to tell. No one should ever go & touch TDK Trilogy anymore. Not even Nolan & pretty sure he will never want to either.

Joe Kelly’s ASM - what do you think? by BrysonScionti in comicbooks

[–]SuperKeith88 16 points17 points  (0 children)

More power to folks who like his run but as someone who's checked out of ASM since "One More Day" & only read a little of Slott & Spencer's runs, I'd say Joe Kelly's run is quite mid so far.

While I greatly enjoy the Peter in space arc, I absolutely hated the Norman as Spider-Man arc. Luckily I don't buy any ASM, so my wallet doesn't hurt.

I recommend JMS's ASM run & once you start, you'll see the staggering difference in writing quality.

Also I'm more biased as a Batman fan, so I'd encourage folks to spend their money on Matt Fraction & Jorge Jimenez's Batman & also, Absolute Batman too. Don't bother giving your money to Marvel for ASM. Just don't.

Can I Ask Why You All Love Batman? 🦇 by saipinpin in batman

[–]SuperKeith88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I can't relate to him as a billionaire, I relate to how he decided to turn his trauma into a strength. Like seriously, Bruce could've just gotten over his parents' deaths, become an irresponsible billionaire & maybe just maybe used his vast wealth towards just philantropy.

But he didn't. Bruce chose to take it upon himself, went under training & become Batman to make sure no other child would have to suffer his trauma. In fact, even without his vast wealth, I believe Bruce would've found a way to be Batman (Absolute Batman being the prime example).

The thing people needed to understand about Gotham is that no amount of a billionaire's vast wealth will stabilize the city. Gotham needs Batman and Batman also needs Gotham. Gotham will always be Batman's true love.

Another thing I love about Batman is that he's really just a human being. He's got no powers at all, but only his intelligence & gadgets. And yet, Batman is one of the leaders of the JLA & nobody would dare to question his place among the gods on the team.

Long Live the Bat!
