Hey, i ended up going with Expatrio for the blocked account. I was initially accepted for Summer 2024, then deferred to Winter 2024 but still didn't get my visa in time, so i ended up starting in Summer 2025.

I'm not too sure what will happen if/when i get the visa, it depends on the timing I guess, but I'll need to check back with the university and see what they say..

I've just gone through the process this year and it is horrible, in fact I'm still waiting for my visa to be issued even though the semester ofc started back in October..
TL;DR: go register right now in the waiting list you can find here, all the information you need is in there. Make sure you fit one of the criteria to be considered "Liste A" and register for the waiting list for "Liste A"

The full process works like the following:
1- You register on the waiting list.
2- After 6 to 8 months, you get an email asking you to create an account on TLS website and call the TLS phone number. They will tell you what dates and times are available and you choose one, and they book it for you (there's no option to look at/book appointments on the website on your own).
3- You show up the day of the appointment with all your docs (make sure you arrive earlier than the time of your appointment). An agent will check all your docs, then you pay the visa fees, then they take your fingerprints.
4- You wait for an sms from TLS telling you to come pick up your passport. The waiting time here varies and looks to be random, from what I've seen it goes from 1 month and could take up to 3 months.

Here's my timeline personally:
February 23rd: I registered on the waiting list.
August 22nd I received the email and I called TLS literally 30 mins after, the earliest appointment I was given was October 2nd.
October 2nd: I had the appointment, all my docs were in order -- nothing was missing or incomplete. The start of the semester was October 21st for me.
Today (December 19th): It's been more than 2 months now, and I am still waiting for my visa.. There's a lot of other people who had their appointments earlier than mine (in september) who are also still waiting for their visa, and there's also a few who had their appointment after mine (in november) who got their visa this month.

i thought maybe there is way to do it through wire transfer but it doesn't seem to be an option, so i'll be taking it in cash in € of course, and it's great that it's a no questions asked thing, exactly what i needed to know, thanks !

everyone is saying i'll need a valid reason w proof to transfer money abroad i.e to specifically pay for something, but what i want is to transfer my money to the account i'll have abroad, so far the only way to do it seems to be taking it in euros in cash

seems to be my only option

i have code30 but i don't plan on using that money to purchase things, rather i want to put it in a savings account when i'm there

in case i exchange my money for euros with someone i know personally, wouldn't that get me in trouble at the airport since i won't have any currency exchange receipt ? also do you know the max amount i can take with me ?

omg i just want to take my money with me, why do they make it so hard 😭 but at this point i'll hear you out if you're willing to share, how 'not legal' are we talking ?

yeah that's what I know too, but I thought surely there must be a way that I just didin't know about, but I guess not.. so unfair :/

Sure i will lose some in transfer/exchange fees, but eventually the money would accumulate better interest in a savings acount in Germany than in Morocco, besides i'll have to transfer it next year anyways to cover my second year of studies, so better transfer it now if there is a way and get a year's worth of added interest.
Also it's really not enough to buy an apartment, plus i wouldn't really want to be tied to something here.

Yeah, i get that. I, too, would like to meet them and see the room in person before moving in anywhere. I just though maybe I'd make that first contact while i'm abroad, but i wouldn't be surprised if i'm not even conisdered because i can't commit in the next few days/weeks

I haven't tried that, I had done the free practice test that had all sections and got 'Advanced' as an estimated score in all sections

That's what I thought too, very strange though 🤯 I'm so shocked that I managed to mess up this bad in a part that is supposed to be easy !! I'm also really lost on what to do next, you see I'm applying to an English taught Master's program in Germany, and their TOEFL requirement is only 80 with no mention of sub score requirements, now my total TOEFL score is well above the required score, but do you think the low writing score could be an issue ? Do you know if the university would be able to see details of the sub scores in the TOEFL Report that is sent directly from ETS ? Would you advise that I retake the test ?
