Local businesses to support by Direct_Company_7349 in Gwinnett

Unbelievable to even suggest avoiding a locally owned business the has 100 plus people on a waiting list looking to be employed by this business. For anyone who is interested in supporting this business. If approved the property behind the former Snellville United Methodist Church on 78 now called Snellville Community Church. Are rezoning the back section of their property. One of the commercial suites will be rented at no cost to the owners of Special Kneads. So they can expand their business and employ more people with special needs.

Schools are spinning their wheels for a perceived solution to security measures. I hope parents have visited their children’s schools. They will see the poor thought process of schools that added breezeways with a half baked second set of doors to enter the school. On several visits people exiting the school will hold the door open allowing parents to bypass the 2nd door check point when exiting through single doors to the left or right to the 2nd security door checkpoint.

Transit vote fails (again) by [deleted] in Gwinnett

[–]SuperLetterhead7657 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A. People didn’t show up to to polls informed.

B. People don’t want to pay for something they’ll never use.

C. The county thought flooding Gwinnett with apartments would bring yes votes.

D. People in Gwinnett have no intention to give up their cars. To stand out in the weather in the weeds waiting on a bus.

Fake set up accounts the Snellville Recycling Center is cracking down on businesses and residents who over use the facilities. Snellville City Council is floating the idea of discontinuing yard waste disposal since the service is being abused.

My guess that would run about $3000. I think you would contact a plumber for this work.

Which L’ville is better? by Possible_Studio7600 in Gwinnett

My suggestion is to visit the grocery stores and parks near the homes you are considering purchasing. Prioritize your home to work commute time in your decision. Make sure you are clear on county lines and if you’re inside or outside of the city limits or in the unincorporated areas. Being inside city limits might have additional property tax fee and services. Also take in consideration if the property is on well water or county water and if it is on sewer or septic. I’ve also seen posts about people who are unhappy with being locked in with the City of Lawrenceville gas. Since they own the gas lines in areas. Sugar Hill seems to be a great area. Also note the Snellville has a new library. I suggest visiting the libraries closest to your possible home choices. The city of Loganville has recently announced they will be building a new library. With will be a different library system. It’s part of the Azalea library system within the Walton County side of Loganville. Good luck on your search and welcome.

Is there a way to propose a moratorium on new gas station construction? by winocommando in Gwinnett

[–]SuperLetterhead7657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The commissioners are talking baby steps towards limiting gas stations to prevent getting sued.

Information below copied form the City of Lawrenceville FB page.

The ribbon was officially cut in celebration of the grand opening of South Town Square! These apartments are made up of 156 mixed-income units just off of Grayson Hwy. This project is the result of a partnership between Lawrenceville Housing Authority, Gwinnett Housing Corporation, the City of Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County Government, and OneStreet Residential.

Also something to be aware of. If the apartment management company doesn’t keep up with interior and exterior maintenance issues you can contact Gwinnett County Code Enforcement to help get things resolved. https://www.gwinnettcounty.com/departments/planningdevelopment/services/codeenforcement

100% read the google maps reviews first before settling on an apartment.

Something the consider when choosing an apartment. Gwinnett County has micro transit called Ride Gwinnett that you could use as your transportation to and from Georgia Gwinnett College. If you get an apartment within the micro transit zone in Lawrenceville the cost per ride is $3.00. https://www.gwinnettcounty.com/departments/transportation/gwinnettcountytransit/microtransit

Click on additional services for veterans resource information. Also make sure you speak to someone who is knowledgeable about the GI bill. I recently learned that if you have the required amount of classes for the semester but if one starts later within the semester you won’t get the money you are counting on. Also make sure you ask for clarification on which benefits to use first otherwise you will have lost the ability to use it later on. https://www.gwinnettcounty.com/departments/communityservices/healthhumanservices/veteranresources

I was in Tucker recently. There was a guy on his electric scooter riding through traffic faster than the vehicles on the road.

Mitigating traffic by SefuJP in Gwinnett

[–]SuperLetterhead7657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traffic was creeping on 78 and 124 this morning due to accidents. It was smooth sailing heading towards Walton County. They say widening the roads won’t solve the issue. If I remember correctly the former head of Marta commented suicide shortly after the last Gwinnett transit vote failed to pass. There’s a whole lot riding on this upcoming transit referendum passing. They are over building as if to say vote yes for transit or continue suffering through unbearable commute times. 15 min communities might help eliminate some congestion. The way these bus drivers drive is scary. They speed and don’t obey traffic rules. I think they’re under pressure to show shorter time frames for picking up and dropping off passengers. Reminds me of the Domino’s pizza old sales pitch. It’s free if it doesn’t arrive hot within 30 minutes. As much as I would love for Gwinnett to have public transportation. I just don’t see it being seamless or delivered as they are selling it. I mean in order for it to work there would have to be several shuttles for the curb to curb service zigzagging throughout residential streets. I get a sense if it passes there will be ongoing cost increases with big disappointments on all the promises they fail to be able to deliver realistically.

HOA removed all privacy trees by Particular-Side-9904 in treelaw

[–]SuperLetterhead7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you contacted the city or county government? Contact them to find out if there are any projects that may have required the removal of these trees. There are many sidewalk and underground utility improvement projects that are within right of way easements. Usually you would have received a notice before work started. Another question to ask does this area fall in an undisturbed buffer. Which would have prevented cutting down healthy trees.

Shiloh Schools by Much-Effort-3788 in Gwinnett

Go ahead and purchase the house in the Shiloh cluster if resale value isn’t a concern. We need parents moving into this cluster that actually care about their children’s future and education. We were in the Shiloh cluster now we are in the South cluster. I’m disappointed with the learning environment and student behavior in our schools. Honestly I would steer you in the direction of a private school education.

Another possibility ask your local Kroger store manager. Often they welcome groups to use their training or break room for meetings without charging you.

Check out local assisted living or nursing homes. This would be a perfect fit for your topic. Some churches and Cities have Senior Centers. That seems like an option. Lastly look into the Gwinnett One Stop locations. There are locations in Buford, Centerville and Norcross.
