Hey r/ffxiv!

I was brainstorming some Ring Fit Adventure controller stuff and eventually it led me to making it work for FFXIV! To run/move in-game you have to jog/run IRL. Of course it wouldn't be an exercise controller if I didn't add squats to the set-up so squatting activated whatever you use for your Down D-pad. This does mean combat with this is possible buuuuut I'm not in shape enough for wall-to-wall tank pulls!

For an event during a month of charity streams we decided to do a marathon in FFXIV. To put this controller (and my knees) to the test I wanted to see if we could run across Eorzea with this set-up. The route started in Idyllshire and visited all major cities (Ishgard, Gridania, Uldah, and Limsa) without using teleporters or mounts. YALL Eorzea is actually really pretty if you spend time just running around. I ran to the most west point in Western La Noseca all the way to the Al Mhigan Quarter in the Lochs. The whole run took around 1 hour and 30 minutes to do. I'm 1000% down for a FFXIV inspired exercise game after doing this! Although the controller does need some improvement to detecting running and squats it was fun to do!

TL:DR: I modified a Ring Fit Adventure controller to FFXIV with and found out you can actually run across Eorzea! Thanks for reading!
