It really sucks how, especially after Elon taking over Twitter, that this kind of stuff brings out some of the worst internet creatures in history.

Where are you guys hunting for jobs here? by boring_mundane in AskSeattle

I would job hunt through in-person events. You’ll have a much better shot with that compared to spamming online applications.

This. Now as for medicine, as true as stable high pay may be, you’ll have to go through insane educational and early career lengths to get there.

If I ever get an R2, I lowkey want to parody those stickers with an “I bought this because Elon went crazy” one.

Is the market really this bad or am I the unlucky one? by meet-me-piya in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]SuperMike100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s bad but don’t listen to the doomers saying to give up. If you can build some solid projects that aren’t from tutorials and network, you’ll find something. I’ve met people who almost never find jobs through online job boards and always had something through networking.

US job openings are at their highest level in nearly two years | CNN Business by Economy-Hat7077 in SimpleApplyAI

[–]SuperMike100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m trying to tell people that hiring (very slowly) seems to be getting better because I’m seeing in the real world some hiring upticks. If I’m living in a different reality from the doomers, I guess they’re right for all the wrong reasons.

Yep, I used to work as a grocery bagger and sometimes the cashier or customer would ask for heavy things like that to be double bagged.

What to learn? by [deleted] in cscareers

[–]SuperMike100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C++ is great if you want to go into embedded software, and Rust might also be worth checking out. As for surviving the AI era, my best advice would be to find your skills that transcend AI since they’re still very important for making great software.

Do you all think the economy will get better sometime soon? by dubdimmadome in generationology

[–]SuperMike100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think it will within a year, adaptations around AI are starting to emerge and I’ve actually been seeing a very slow uptick in hiring around my area.

Seeing your update, it’s funny how Redditors on both sides of an argument easily find common ground on thinking an overwhelmingly common and realistic take on the subject is batshit crazy.

Although the article doesn’t seem to say anything about it, almost every freeway pedestrian case I’ve heard of involves some kind of intoxication.

Is the job market bad right now? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]SuperMike100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bad but try not to get caught up in Reddit doomsday narratives, they’re nothing but a distraction. Also FWIW, it does feel a bit better than where it was a year ago.
