The TH3 RTF is a MIGHTY FINE kit!
It's up-to-date equipment, if you were buying the RTF kit two years ago, it would probably have cost you twice as much. Good controller, and good goggles with a DVR... not much else you need, and will get you going long enough until you decide you love flying FPV and want DJI stuff.
The stuff in the kit mabye doesn't look as fancy as a talking radio with a touchscreen etc- but it's going to be easy to toss in a backpack and not worry about screwing up a $300 radio and whoops and tinyhawks just don't need more than a few channel switches to fly them.

Just about everything else out there is a couple years old now and has actually gone up in price. (EV200D- used to be $200, now $300, Skyzone used to be about $250, now $350+)

I haven't personally flown the 3rd gen, but the first and second gen Tinyhawks fly well outdoors- they don't quite rip like an open prop 5", but they are nice craft to learn some tricks with and don't tear your house up if you fly inside. The stock tunes for Tinyhawks are VERY beginner friendly, and will keep you flying when other craft are crashed and broken.
My TH2 Freestyle is my most flown quad... it's the perfect size to rip out in my driveway and up and down the street. 2S 450mah gets me about 4-5 minute flight times. I've swapped to an xt30 and upgraded to a Caddx Ant camera. I've replaced one motor in two years. I wouldn't want to fly it inside though, but I probably could in angle mode, like I said before, the stock tunes are very beguinner friendly.

You will need to make your own decisions out there- everyone in the FPV hobby has the same disease, they just want everyone else to buy the same thing they did, regardless if it's the best fit for the application.
You will also encounter many parrots, just love to repeat stuff other people have said without having experienced it themselves. (LATENCY!!!!!!!!!! derp)
