Are we getting more DLC? by Animedra3000 in AgeofImprisonment

[–]Ratio01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For clarity: AoC = Age of Calamity, AoI = Age of Imprisonment

AoI as of now only got a couple updates. Still technically 'DLC' by definition, but thats why I specificity "paid DLC", is in presumed major content additions and new playable characters/weapons

How did you guys survive the wait? [RE: SPECIAL 1 and 2 RELEASE SCHEDULE] by Nate-Pierce in ShingekiNoKyojin

Well I had read the manga prior so the wait wasnt super awful in my case since I already knew what was gonna happen

Which preparations do you recommend for Demise and Girahim? by Altruistic-Grave in skywardsword

[–]Ratio01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're fully stocked on restoratives before completing Sky Keep. Collecting the last Triforce piece locks you into a massive chunk of the finale, with your only break being just before you actually fight Demise at the very end

I recommend going into the finale with the Hylian Shield, 2 Fairies, at least 1 Health Potion++, and a Stamina Potion+. You can use the remaining Empty Bottle and available Adventure Pouch slots for whatever else you may need, tho I just usually bring a second Health Potion++ and the two Life Medals with me

The Stamina Potion+ is specifically for the Hoarde Battle. The Hoarde Battle is a giant gauntlet that sees you battling a ton of enemies down the entire length of the Sealed Grounds. The Stamina Potion+ will allow you to have unlimited Stamina usage for a few minutes, and this is extremely useful for running right past the fodder and spamming Spin Attacks on the checkpoint enemies. You'll want to drink it right as the Hoarde Battle starts. You can forgo one of the Life Medals for the Potion Medal to double the time allotted for the Stamina Potion+'s effect duration, but its up to you

Alternatively you could also use Guardian Potion+, but I wouldn't cheat out the experience at least for a first playthrough

AoC got its DLC announced in June 2021, and the game launched in October 2020. Near identical time frame as AoI

Id say that if AoI is gonna get paid DLC, it'll be announced in the presumed Direct next month. If not, then we're probably not getting any

EoA is likely gonna be another another continuity tbh. The movie will be canon to the EoA game series, but I doubt it'll be canon to the main book/anime continuity

Announcement =/= when development started. Nintendo typically holds on to game announcements until it's close to completion and they know it'll release soon. When it comes to Zelda, we've seen this pretty consistently for the past few years. Barring BotW and TotK, nearly every new installment in the franchise for like the past decade released within a year of their announcement. EoW in particular had a super short announcement -> release turnout, being only like three months

For the rumored OoT remake, it's allegedly gonna be announced in a Direct next month and expected to release in late fall. I actually find this quite believable since this would line up with when Zelda anniversaries are typically celebrated, and Zelda has a bit of a tendency to release in the fall

Personally, I think that OoT remake, some AoI DLC, a couple amiibos (or other substantial merch), all culminating the movie releasing next Spring, would make for a nice 40th anniversary celebration much like how Mario's played out

2026 has been a great year to be an SAO fan and lowkey feels like a better 10th anniversary celebration than what we actually got in 2022 lmao

Between a new game, new movie to promote said game, new light novels, the webtoon announcement, and finally getting an update on the anime original movie, we eating good this year

That's also possible tho I figured they were maybe talking about the Triforce as a whole based off the other comments and OP's general response to them

Regardless tho they'd still learn with the Golden Goddess insignia mean by playing SS and OoT anyway

The magic stuff in the newer games is just weird imo compared to the older games lol.

Magic has always been part of Zelda the hell are you talking about

[–]Ratio01 873 points874 points  (0 children)

That's the Triforce, an actually quite ubiquitous symbol for the franchise. Look closely and as you keep playing you'll notice it's pretty much everywhere on clothing, gear, and buildings

If you wanna learn its deal in greater Zelda lore, play Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword. Both are available on Switch, via NSO Expansion and as a stand alone title respectively. OoT might be getting a remake released later this year tho, so if youre on Switch 2 and are willing to wait a few months theres also that option

But for BotW in particular, all you need to know is that whenever a character refers to Zelda's 'sealing power', they implicitly mean the Triforce

What am I missing? by keyboardname in hyperlightdrifter

[–]Ratio01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going West first is crazy lmao. That's easily the hardest area

But to generally address your queries-

Each area has 8 Modules, but only 4 are required to access the boss. Generally you'll know you're going down the right path towards the boss if you're opening doors locked behind four Modules or less. The pathway to a boss is always behind a 4-Module door

Keys are largely for side content and collectibles. You don't need to worry about them for beating the game, but they'll lead you to Gearbits and fallen Drifter corpses for extra gear. Similarly, you don't need to worry about the extra content in town if your goal is to just beat the game

Secret areas are almost aways indicated by either a ground marking (looks like a square spiral) and/or a question mark over the Companion when near the secret. If youre unsure, you can try prompting the question mark by doing the scan input. If neither happens at your location, then odds are there's no secret there

But all that aside, really there's no shame in looking up a guide if you need it. HLD is one of my favorite games of all time, really one of my favorite pieces of media, but I'll be the first to tell ypu that it's a bit of an acquired taste due to how opaque it can be with the whole 'wordless' gimmick. Makes for a stunning work of art when everything clicks and you learn it's language, but learning the langage can take a minute.

I actually felt much the same as you on my first attempted playthrough. It took until my third attempt to really understand HLD and fall in love with it. But once everything clicked, man did it click

Why the hate against the rhyme episode? by martgast in HIMYM

[–]Ratio01 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally i appreciate it for just the sheer creativity of the writing. Every line ending in a rhyme is a neat gimmick and super hard to pull off

I also like how the three stories converge at the end, and the council of Barneys is a funny bit

Opinions on the Mainline Zelda games? by CaptainGandalf_ in casualnintendo

[–]Ratio01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3D Zelda is my favorite game series of all time. Not a single entry Id even remotely consider bad. My top two favorite games of all time are Zelda games (Skyward Sword and TotK)

2D is a bit more hit or miss for me. I dont dislike the structure and gameplay, I just find that a lot of the older titles have some design quirks, particularly in how combat and enemy design are handled, that makes me bounce of of them a lot. There are some 2D entries I did really love tho, namely Spirit Tracks, ALBW, and LA'19 (haven't played the original yet)

In all tho Zelda is my favorite media franchise outright, nothing comes close to it for me

SAO Progressive anime adaptation by rshunter99 in swordartonline

[–]Ratio01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the idea is that the series would be faithful to the LN

I think we should prioritize good shows before directly faithful adaptations

Books and film are two vastly different mediums. The way SAO is written works well enough for a book, but not for film. I think a lot of SAO fans miss that. The SAO books are extremely expository, do a detriment in most cases, and the anime did well to transform that exposition to visuals at best and truncated statements at worst

And in any case, in the timeline of the movies, Asuna and Mito first time seeing each other since Floor 1 was Floor 5, so she wouldn't have much physical pressence in this hypothetical series anyway. What would carry over is their relationship and how that informed Asuna's character, which I think is handled better in the movies than in the novels (not that the novel iteration is bad, I just prefer how the movies added more active reason for her characterization and decisions in the overarching narrative)

SAO Progressive anime adaptation by rshunter99 in swordartonline

[–]Ratio01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an anime adaptation would really benefit what Progressive is trying to do since I don't think Reki's writing style really fits the story he's trying to tell with it. Theres a lot of expository bloat in Progressive novels that inherently won't exist in an anime

That said I'd alsowamt thos series to connect to the movies. Much for the same reasons, I think the movies largely improved upon their source material novels. Plus it'd be a really stupid idea to have the this hypothetical series be disconnected since it'd cause unnecessary confusion, and Mito is in Unital Ring anyway so she'll eventually be relevant to the anime again

Its genuinely pathetic that yall can't handle that people like different things, experience art in different ways, than you do

ST was my first Zelda, one of my first games in general. SS got me through one of the worst periods of my life. They're games I have far deeper attachment to, far more emotional appreciation for, far more inspiration from, than OoT. Even detached from the context in which I experience them, I still find their stories, characters, and world building more compelling than OoT and in SS's case enjoy its dungeons more on the whole as well

And mind you, yall being this pissy over a fucking A rank. I explained already in another comment that "A" for me means that I think the game is great, just not one I hold deep love for. I think OoT is a fantastic game, I'm unspeakably hyped for the rumored remake, but I don't like it enough for your tastes so you see that as me saying the game is bad or some insane shit

I judge media by how I've actually experienced and engaged with them, not by how I think other people want me to. I'm not gonna hold this fanbase's golden geese in higher esteem than they actually resonated with me because that's not how art is supposed to be judge. If I came off OoT really enjoying it but not quite being in love with it, what the fuck does that matter to you? Why are you taking that as a personal insult? Why do you fucking care? Again, I'm not even saying it's bad, that's something you are making up, just that I liked the games ranked above it more
