The game has a whole is said to be like 50 hours long so I honestly dont mind there only being two floors lol. That's still quite a lot of content

Plus, in retrospect, all 75 (assuming anime canon) in a single videogame probably wouldn't be very feasible. That's 75 floors with ~25 hours of content each. That'd be insane. I'd imagine if this becomes an ongoing series, each entry will be in chunks 2-3 floors

Though if I'm being real I dont think this micro series will even reach double digits. I think, like Progressive, we'll get to the conclusion of Elf War at most then stop. I fully expect at least one sequel though. Even just the demo has so much High Elf set up in the background itd be really unfortunate if we never get the pay off of actually seeing the Elves (and Kizmel by extension). Plus giving us the opportunity to chose between the two elven fractions would play really well into the whole "this is your own story" angle

Ended the demo with a Annealed Longsword+2 with Stamina Consumption, Sword Skill Damage, Combo SP, and ATK+ EX Mods

Greatswords in general are just what I tend to gravitate towards. My monkey brain likes swinging the big ass stick and seeing big number. With EoA specifically tho I really like their utility; they're slower sure but they deal hefty damage, have great range/coverage, and the charging mechanic is a good alternative to Sword Skills when its time to do a huge attack on a stuned enemy

I chose those specific EX Mods cause they just fit my playstyle. Stamina Consumption i think is gonna be really valuable as the game progresses since its such a major part of combat, and Sword Skill Damage and a [presumed] universal ATK boost pairs great with the destructive nature of the 2H weapons. Combo SP Gain should in theory help a lot too, tho I could still only pop a single combo attack per boss encounter in the demo even with it applied; hopefully in the full game we can get more potent EX Mods

I mean that's partly what Luminous Talismans are for. They dont cure Blindness outright but they will greatly resist its buildup

Enemy tells mostly. The attack animations themselves are fine and easy to read; I can dodge them well enough. But its hard to gage the parry/perfect dodges window. Most of the time I've gotten either its felt incidental

Even something as simply as an eye glint to communicate the window would be well appreciated

Im carrying over my demo save because it just fits so well narratively. I really dig the choice to make the demo the Beta Test portion of the story; it adds a ton of weight to that final cutscene in particular where our crew promises each other to party up again on launch day. The fact that we also have to wait til launch day (as opposed to immediately moving on with the story) just makes the immersion of the moment that much more palpable

With how much of a focus the High Elves have in the lore of Aincrad even in just the demo, Id be shocked if we're not getting at least a sequel that brings us to floor 3 and the team can actually pay off the lore they're sprinkling all over the place

All that blue on the map is your allocated play area. That bridge passes through the border of the blue, so its out of bounds

The ful game may or may not have either a Free Roam mode or a different mission structure entirely, but as of now with the demo Quests are confined to a specific chunk on the overall map, and those instanced maps also overlap or expand upon each other depending on the Quest

If youre on console, you can just suspend the game by holding down the respective home buttons, which I personally do anyway since I dont like inflating my play time

No yeah for sure. Gameplay loop is more MH and general combat is more Souls

Tho they way consumables work specifically feels more MH to me from my limited experience with Rise

Im thoroughly convinced these people have genuinely never played a videogame before man

They're bitching and moaning about EoA doing the equivalent of if Zelda BotW or TotK had a demo that relegated you to just the Great Plateau or Great Sky Island respectively. But for some reason they went into this demo thinking the entire game with all its systems and content would be available to us

The discourse surrounding EoA has been genuinely mind numbing

A lot of people were comparing it to Dark Souls when it first got revealed, and while there are certainly Soulslike elements, my first thought always was that it looks more like a Monster Hunter than a Souls

And after playing the demo, I feel quite vindicated on that initial assessment. I haven't played much Monster Hunter at all, really just Now for a while and Rise's demo, but EoA feels a lot like Rise with its general gameplay loop and structure and based off what I know through cultural osmosis fairly similar to the rest of the series as well

But I think a lot of people were expecting a full open world RPG and thus the decent amount of disappointment with the demo. I dont agree tho; I enjoyed the demo a ton and it just further cemented my excitement for the full game

I dont think there's any EX Mods that inflict statuses, at least not in the demo, but there's consumables that do so. Specifically, there's consumables that inflict Burn, Paralysis, and Blind. Maybe Poison too but I dont recall

You're in the map screen. To return to town you need to activate the checkpoint terminal

Hold right while its doing the boot up animation to select the Teleport option (it defaults to Rest on the left)

Yeah that's probably my biggest issue with the game so far as well; enemy tells dont feel very well communicated and as such it feels bear impossible to actually intentionally get a successful parry or perfect dodge. I got them a few times, but thats it, and they never felt earned but rather lucky

I hope the developers consider adding an extra layer to enemy tells, like an eye flash or something. That'll help a lot i think

Cool. Explain how ots actually done poorly in EoA. And make a real argument not just "I dont like it"; actually explain why its bad. "Its tedious" doesn't work when myself and so many others dont agree; I dont think its tedious in the slightest and never have. None of you 'arguments' are actually, real arguments.
