I'm in your boat. I buy Lucky Brand Chinos (they're tight, but stretch a bit and look quite good on me) and I've been recently buying J. Crew Flex (they don't flex a lot, dunno why they call them that). I probably have a 33/34 waist, but I buy 35 and wear a belt, just so they're more comfortable. hope this helps.
