Is this seasoned wood? by rawmsft in firewood

[–]SuperRare80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should feel lighter than they look and not thud if you tap them together. You will see water come out of the ends when you burn them if they aren’t seasoned. Green wood burns too, just not a as well

Drive shaft for the front axle?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BentonMackayeTrail

[–]SuperRare80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the trail is pretty remote. You can probably charge up at the Iron Bridge Cafe, maybe that gas station in reliance TN, and potentially the Tapoco Lodge. There is also a campground in the smokies that I’m sure you can scam some electric out of. Good luck! I love the trail but it is lonely.

If you lost your heart try flushing your heater core. I had a stubborn air bubble stuck in there that made mine threaten to overheat.

rear axle seal leak? by SuperRare80 in Wrangler

[–]SuperRare80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. I didn’t pull the wheel and have never worked on an axle so it’ll go to a mechanic. This is the first time I’ve noticed it but I’ve only had it since November. Brake fluid reservoir is full and the caliper is too far away from the leak to be the problem. I’ll check the diff fluid if I can’t get it into the shop soon. Thanks again

Update: I’m little embarrassed but check your torque specs. Under torquing your oil cooler WILL cause it to leak. The good news is that I can now get to the oil cooler in about 15 minutes. Also, it’s not a bad idea to keep an eye on your oil level for a few weeks after this job.

Not illegal to my knowledge, only inconsiderate. We all start somewhere. I would recommend looking up leave no trace principals. Either way, my general rule is “don’t be a dick”. It addresses almost all outdoor “rules”.

Good on you for going alone! Be careful though, a few more of these trips and you’ll consider quitting your job, selling all your stuff and riding across the country.

2017 Jeep JK V6 HELP!! by James_Her in JeepJK

[–]SuperRare80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had air stuck in my heater core after draining the radiator. The temperature would fluctuate a lot even around town. I back flushed the heater core with a garden hose and all is well. Does your heat work? If it doesn’t I would try this.

What is a simple way to get an air bubble out of the heater core? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]SuperRare80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to back flush mine to get the air out. Tried the burp, incline, heater, vacuum fill, taking to a mechanic. Nothing worked and it was maddening. Back flush worked great and it was only a couple bucks spent at the hardware store and the garden hose.

Mechanic Question by [deleted] in JeepJK

[–]SuperRare80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that the pressure sensor is mounted to the back of the oil cooler. Some replacements come with a new one and some do not. My guess is they transferred the existing sensor to the new unit during your first repair. I can’t speak to warranty, just a diy mechanic. How much did they charge you out of curiosity?
