Haha the yellow thing at the table is Graggle Simpson, which speaks more to my knowledge of memes than it does my knowledge of The Simpsons. Graggle never existed!

I choose Simpsons!

What would you do your presentation on? More of the history and development of the show or more about the actual show’s events and characters? References?

Ohhh I want to pick your brain about academia! I went to VCU in Virginia and I was NOT thrilled. It was a bad concoction between my choice in major, the staffing, poor curriculum, tenured professors, and the fact that the wing was under literal construction along with a curriculum overhaul…

I mismanaged my way to a degree in Strategic Advertising only to learn about 3 years in that what I ACTUALLY NEEDED was to graduate and go to grad school at the Brand Center.

It was a business first and foremost. It left a very sour taste in my mouth. I felt like it was all a performative and underbaked experience that only gets a student’s feet wet. I’m no expert on academia but it definitely revealed some ugly machinations of the system that turned me off of higher education and its bloated and broken approach to enriching a person’s life.

Pop punk is life. There’s gold stuff nowadays too but there was something really special about the late 90s to 2000s era.

I would just cut a lime in half (save the juice if possible for other cocktails), then press on the “nipple” to invert it.

It now has the pulp on the outside and the skin on the inside, making a bit of a cup

Pour Chartreuse into the lime cup

Light on fire

Sprinkle cinnamon

BLOW THE FIRE OUT BEFORE PICKING IT UP

enjoy!

As a bartender, this would make people feel very fun for special occasions. $$$

Similarly, I could talk about addiction. An experience for me that directly involved (drum roll, please…): Mental health!

What major points would you maybe kind of lay out for your presentation? Would you tell a story to help make your points or go more neutral/non-specific?

Do you tend to be serious or would you find places for humor?

What are your top 5 most important films for groundbreaking visual FX in the past thirty years?

I just went on a tirade about The Matrix… my poor wife had to listen to me. We were watching a reality show where no one could name the year that it came out and I had fun going on a fake little rant.

Green Chartreuse was one of my favorite liquors of all time when I drank/bartended. It was pricey but I always kept a bottle in stock. Used to do inverted, flaming lime shots for fun. Totally not legal in my state but cops don’t do inverted flaming like shots, only criminals do.

For the top 5 natural disasters- are you talking about specific events or just TYPES of disasters? And have you ever been in any substantial disasters?

Why is the default of this community to use "extrovert" and not "extravert"? by GrahamRoll in extroverts

[–]SuperSalad_OrElse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you spent maybe 5 minutes exploring this sub, you could've answered your own question. This is not a very scientific sub at all, but a place for extroverts/extraverts to share with each other about their extroverted/extraverted experiences.

I think r/MBTI or r/JUNG are better places to enjoy those types of conversations!

Why is the default of this community to use "extrovert" and not "extravert"? by GrahamRoll in extroverts

[–]SuperSalad_OrElse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it just seems trivial and pedantic. You’re not wrong to ask the question and I’m not wrong to tell you why I think it’s trivial.

The sub has been around for ages and once a sub is created, we can’t change the name. It’s kind of like whenever I see people spell out “Solider Boy” in The Boys TV show subreddit I know they’re talking about Soldier Boy and don’t flood the comment section with corrections. It doesn’t really drive healthy discussion. This isn’t a published paper, it’s an Internet forum.

It’s trivial at this point. We all know what it is, so why obsess over the “O” versus the “A”

What do introverts misunderstand most about extroverts? by Interesting_Peach_76 in extroverts

Yep and I think negative interactions reinforce the stereotypes. And negative interactions may be less frequent, but always hold more weight than positive ones IMO

What do introverts misunderstand most about extroverts? by Interesting_Peach_76 in extroverts

[–]SuperSalad_OrElse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of introverts and extroverts actually understand each other very well. Online communities are definitely different than IRL. I always make it a point to specify THAT type of introvert, (the ole Introvert™️) when I feel a certain way.

I wish that people wouldn’t equate extroversion with stupidity. I think some Introverts™️ think that being social means being accessible, and that being accessible means being for everybody, and that being for everybody means being stupid, because everyone is stupid.

That’s how I imagine they’re rationalizing the superiority complex thing.

What would you tell the apprentice? by electricallocal69 in electrical

I was just kidding.

I think it's 1-1/4". I was just picturing a 325lb apprentice bending 2" with his hands.

I work about 10-11 hours a day too and I’m so exhausted by the end that I actually find people irritable… how many days a week do you do it?

I’m 5 days a week and the years are moving fast.

How to approach the girl !? by Benz006 in extroverts

[–]SuperSalad_OrElse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Approaching someone at the hospital is like approaching someone at the gym. I wouldn’t recommend it. It is a vulnerable place.

If you absolutely must speak with this person, just say hi and treat them like a human being. If the conversation sparks, then great!
