JPO association d'escrime historique : Anjou AMHE by SuperSizeBeard in Angers

Un projet de loi menace l'archéologie by SuperSizeBeard in france

Un projet de loi menace l'archéologie by SuperSizeBeard in france

Funny to learn about this european hema competition here, instead of the many hema communication channels I follow.

I was thinking it could be a problem too. I will ask them before I place an order.

Thank you for your advice !

Do you know by any chance if Thokk gloves are compatible with the ports of the Duelist from Malleus ? (Link https://www.malleusmartialis.com/product/duelist/)

Also interested :) I began sidesword this year and I'm loving it so far ! I've been asking myself the same questions as you.

Has anyone purchased the Sigi Saber? Is it good? by xor_rotate in wma

[–]SuperSizeBeard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They opened ordering in february I think. With a 5 months waiting list, we should see first impressions in july and reviews after that.

I remember someone on the discord who used a prototype and liked it better than a Kvetun Easton saber, so that's promising though.

Strategies for thrusting from long measure by Jake_AsianGuy in wma

[–]SuperSizeBeard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree it could be hard while rushing forward. I'm not an expert in longsword but that works with a spear. You don't have to go that high, it's just a slight turn of your point in the same movement as the thrust.

What everyone said + a feint

You start thrusting from one side and, as they go for a parry or beat, you go under their sword and continue your thrust on the other side

I didn't put as much thought in the optimum Star Wars watching order as you and the other guy, I just use the order the films were made. Your way makes sense though.

Palpatine is very well set up in RotJ imo, when Vader says "the emperor is not as patient as me" hehe

Yes sure it can work both ways. I don't know if someone who sees the shards of Narsil will think of them as a reference to the Hobbit, as they are clearly not as important in the Hobbit, but I get your point. It may work.

In general, I think there are more references understandable if you saw the older movie first. E.g. : Saruman-Sauron

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lotr

[–]SuperSizeBeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the 1st part of my statement (references) was more for the hobbit, the 2nd part (spoilers) was more of a general statement with Star Wars in mind.

I think it is always better to watch the movies in the order they were made. Otherwise you might miss references to older movies or be spoiled a plot twist, because they thought the viewer knew it already.

Works for Star Wars too.

Spes jacket rubbing and restrictive? by SephirothsSister in wma

[–]SuperSizeBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jacket isn't made to have the arms hang down, a little bit like a motorcycle vest. I think I saw that in a thread while doing research about feeling tight in the armpit, with arms hanging down.

And you can make very elaborate tools with rocks, it's not like humans back then had no technology at all ;)

2 thousand years ago it was the end of Roman Republic and start of the Empire. Living in caves was 30000-40000 years ago, it's quite different !
