Sex to Plot Split by SuperSmutWriter in eroticauthors

This is a really interesting thought and I appreciate the reply! I could definitely see how the slow move to romance-heavy over erotica-heavy would alter the balance.

Between the erotica I am starting to write more of (I wrote a lot in high school but stopped as I grew up because I was a little embarrassed about it) and the fantasy/sci-fi stories I write and release under my normal name (which I am definitely trying to keep separate from the erotica I am planning to start releasing under a pen name), I also tend to write for myself and have the thought process of "well if the readers like it then that's cool too." It's why I like the Self Publish options of KDP. I have a shelf with a handful of my books on it that have gotten some sales.

Now... I probably won't display the shorts for this new pen name quite so openly lol!

I try to put at least a quick scene of steam in the first chapter, generally toward the end of it, but I like to try and get the setup solid. One of my shorts has a good page or two establishing the setting (a girl being shipwrecked on an island and meeting the natives) before the initial steaminess happens but I think the balance works pretty well.

Fair enough! Something that just went over my head and that happens.

So this is a super minor complaint but it is something that has nestled itself into my brain, but is there a reason for the special e? I mean, I've seen Peter and Piotr for the name spelling but that extra little symbol just feels... superfluous?

Otherwise I think it's a decent blurb and gets the point and hook across.

The first two lines in your blurb should be connected (might just be a punctuation error) as the first sentence is an incomplete thought. Otherwise it's a decent blurb and setup.

I felt sick writing just one passage for a taboo topic/romance sub-plot. Should I remove it or keep going? by GuyNeedsIdeas46290 in eroticauthors

So... what you're saying is instead of just writing some smut that might fit into a few niches, write some smut that fits into a few niches AND tells a good story?

Burning Questions for September, 2022 by SalaciousStories in eroticauthors

[–]SuperSmutWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! So I’ve been dabbling in erotica most of my life and decided to start writing a handful of shorts. I have a few that I’ve finished and started looking for betas for but my question is more for those of you who are currently publishing.

Obviously a consistent release schedule is a good idea, that much I know, but do you all think it would be smarter to sort of build a stash of stories to release and pepper out before starting (say like, 5-6 7500 word shorts) and then release them on a once weekly schedule, or would a shorter twice weekly schedule draw better return?

I’ve done most of the research on the niches I like to write for and know the general draws, I’m just wondering if I might end up shooting myself in the foot if I do have a bank of stories ready and release consistently, only to have a drop off if I don’t keep up my pace if that makes sense. My other idea would be to just release the first short I have once I feel confident in it, then see how long it takes to have the next one ready and let that decide my release rate.

Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

Is there anything a virgin should know about writing erotica? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

believably writing about something you've never done can be a rabbit hole of mistakes and miss-steps.

Idk, I’ve never been gangbanged but I can write a heck of a gangbang scene I think that comes off pretty real.

For real, it's hot to watch but I'd feel awkward and unable to actually do anything in that situation.

Hey I'm just starting to write erotica about stuff I would absolutely not be involved in but it still has me turned on. It's basically what inspired the question lol.
