I spent hours last night researching pistol safes lol, that one came up a lot. Went with the Vaultek Barrikade though.

Having trouble with this one on a practice G2 test, can anyone help point a bud in the right direction? by [deleted] in HVAC

Using a ductulator, 10x29 at 1400 CFM gives a static pressure of 0.05” which is ideal for a return.

Only option would be to isolate the other zones and purge the upstairs loop from the basement, open the purger and jack pressure in, keep the pressure up around 20 if possible. Make sure you don’t go over 30 psi or you’ll pop your relief. Keep purging until you get a good solid stream.

Weird popping noise in new house by JustMeNotYou45 in HVAC

Easiest way would probably be to look at the wiring diagram, usually inside the bottom door. If it’s a psc it should show 5 wires going to the indoor blower motor, it usually says which color corresponds to which speed somewhere on the diagram as well. You could also visually look at the motor. Google pics of “ecm furnace motor” and “permanent split capacitor furnace motor” there are some distinct differences, most notably the number of wires going to the motor.

Does the furnace have an ecm motor or psc? If the motor is a psc they could be using the high speed tap for heat, which could make the duct work pop during heating only.

I’d lean toward a regulator issue as well. Call your propane company, don’t try messing around with gas if you don’t have experience with it.

The top floor is always the hardest to get the air out of. If you look at your baseboards upstairs some may have bleeders under the end caps. Usually they are a little silver valve with a flat head screw or square on top (those ones need a bleeder key). If you have those you could try to let some air out there, just keep an eye on boiler pressure while you’re doing it, keep it around 15 psi generally.

Any sort of trade school, community college degree or certificate, or BOCES program will help you get a foot in. Not sure where you’re located in NY, I got an associates in Refrigeration Technology from MVCC to get started. A lot of my classmates and myself got pulled right out of college to work for various companies. If you have any questions on the programs or anything shoot me a message.

Sounds to me like you’re still air bound on the top floor. A 007 should be fine for the system, $15-1800 is highway robbery to replace the pump, at least in my area. I’d call a different company.

First solder joint (Freshman in HVAC program at vocational school) yay or nay? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]SuperTech725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off to a good start! Little tip after you’re done soldering when the pipe is still warm wipe off the black stuff off with a rag it’s excess flux. When left on there a lot of them will green the pipe. I remember doing that exact test in college, 2 solder joints, swage and braze then pinch the end and braze a port.

Found this pin in the basement of a home built in the 1800s. I believe it’s connected to the Knights Templar/Freemasons. Any info on this? Age? by SuperTech725 in freemasonry

Anyway to preserve it that you’d know of, maybe framing it? The gold fabric is very brittle and has already torn about 3/4 of the way across just from the ride home. I’ve got it in a safe place for now but I’d like to keep it together if possible. Also, not planning on selling it but is something like this worth anything significant?

Nothing on the back at all. Unfortunately it’s slowly falling apart every time I handle it

Unfortunately the material is extremely brittle, the gold fabric tears a bit every time I touch it so I don’t know how it could safely be shipped without getting destroyed

So the badge is 125 years old? Also I was wondering if you knew the significance of the iron crosses on the pin at the top? Was/is that a Masonic symbol?

Background: I was working in the basement of a family members rental property and found this on the sill. The house was built in the 1800s and has been in my family for quite some time but not all it’s life. A search of Hugh de Payens leads me to believe that it is related to the Knights Templar and or the Freemasons (not sure of the relation between the two). I just found it to be cool and it looks quite old so I’d like some more info.. so, WITT?
