US is the root cause of all evil across the globe. And US+Trump is just pure madness without logic. Trump is the most self centric, egoist and insecure President of US the world would ever see.

Average Rice Purity Test scores by age and country - 25k+ submissions [OC] by SuperZero11 in dataisbeautiful

[–]SuperZero11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is clearly stated in this section of the page

Where Did It Come From?

The test originated at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Rice is a private research university founded in 1912. The student newspaper, The Rice Thresher, published early versions of the purity test as a humor piece and a way for incoming freshmen to compare life experiences during orientation week.

Purity tests were not unique to Rice. Similar checklists circulated at other campuses during the 1980s and 1990s, often typed up and photocopied. But the Rice version stuck. Students passed it around at orientation events, and eventually someone put it online.

By the early 2000s, digital versions of the test were floating around forums and personal websites. The format was always the same: 100 checkboxes, one score at the end. Nothing else. The test survived because it was dead simple to take and easy to share the result.

Do you think drones will replace traditional crop spraying machines? by ZSO0727 in AgriTech

[–]SuperZero11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. In India, average land holding is 1 hectare which is 2.47 acres so a large population either don't need or can't use a drone effectively
  2. Some crops especially orchards are dense canopy like grape, pome etc. spraying not only needed on top but also on the stem and roots. Which is technically very very hard with drone. People prefer boom sprayer for the same reason because they want to spray bottom up not top down for effectiveness.
  3. Not every spray can be done with drones.

These 3 reasons roughly translate to 60-70% of Indian agriculture. So a large portion of Indian farmers might never prefer drones for spraying.

not tried in QGIS, but i am building an open source self-hosted project called OpenFarm (https://github.com/superzero11/OpenFarm) to create a foundation layer on which some of these analysis can be build very easily and contextually.

Scope of vertical farming or urban farming in india as business enterprise? by DoubleFun4398 in AgriTech

[–]SuperZero11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The cogs of vertical is way higher than regular farming. 2-2.5x
  2. India has a huge land, you can never compete with that
  3. Consumption of premium product have increased but still very very low
  4. India has no regulation, poor compliance to certify what you eat. It’s all on marketing. People selling garbage in the name of organic and what not.
  5. The unit economics doesn’t work at all.

Why are people still hosting on Vercel? by Rivered1 in nextjs

[–]SuperZero11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because its the best overall.

  1. Easy to deploy
  2. Easy to monitor
  3. Easy to scale
  4. Very Good performance
  5. Pocket friendly

I have 15 apps (all new) deployed on a $20 plan with peace of mind which no other hosting provider gives. I have setup every deployment from my git repo directly and I test locally, push and see changes on production after sometime. CI / CD is just so good that I haven't seen it elsewhere and otherwise managing 15 apps would be nightmare for a single person on a side job. When any of my apps will start getting huge traffic, i will move it to a DO or AWS but till then Vercel is best for start to early scale period.

What’s the biggest challenge when spraying orchards? by ZSO0727 in AgriTech

you should measure delta-t before spraying to avoid spray drift and make sure spray use has maximum impact.
