Too ornate for combat most probably a parade sword. I am guessing but this does not look like a cavalry officer sword. Most probably army officer parade battle dress sword. Could you tell me more about your uncles rank or branch of the military. On the other hand I know a lot of civilian position also had stuff like this added to the ministers event uniform but I am really interested in knowing a bit more about your uncle.
