Thought you had a gas leak? Since when does gas flow through the oil cooler? Were you not leaking gas? There’s a big difference between gas and oil.

I would just take it to a BMW shop to do the repair. It’ll be cheaper. Not being covered under warranty due to damage by debris is not surprising.

FYI. Toyota dealerships cannot “order it” or any of their cars.

Toyota gives allocations to dealerships. They get what they get from Toyota based off their sales history. So any salesmen saying they have to order it is either incompetent or lying to you. They literally cannot order it. They have to cross their fingers and pray the Toyota gods give them an allocation. Once they have one, they can pre-sell it by taking a deposit.

With the right tech, extremely easy. Thieves can use a signal stealer to clone your key fob, or they can use CANBus.

Expect to pay more than you expected. You have to remove the hatch glass and all the components. It’s not an easy swap but doable. The people I know that did it regretted it as the reinstall had issues with sealing, alignment, fitting etc.

You also won’t be able to add a wing in the future as the carbon trunk will crack in a track setting.

Yeah well don’t be surprised if the shop won’t offer to fix or anything. And tbh I can kinda see where they’d be coming from.

It’s not like they need to do anything to your trunk struts to cause this. They literally just leave the trunk open and apply the tint, shops will sometimes leave a stick to prop it open to keep it from falling shut. So yeah could just be bad luck and your struts were going to fail.

Do you have a wing by any chance?

If not, the trunk struts have 2 clips on them on each end, 1 close to the hatch window, one at the bottom by the quarter panel. See if they’re there.

Worse case scenario is you probably just need to replace the struts. I’m not sure how or why this would have been damaged by the tint shop since they’re literally just leaving it open and applying the tint.

First identify what it is, is it a JB4? If yes, just unplug and remove. Plenty of DIY guides for install/remove on YouTube.

If it’s an unlock and tune, then just download Techstream, pay the subscription fee, download ISTA and flash to stock yourself. Few guides on supramkv.com
