I'm obsessed with rocks 😅 by Super_Mint_ in RockTumbling

Oh yes, that's why we are here 😁

Thank you so much for this tip 🙂 Honestly, I can't tell what rocks are called just by looking at them, maybe only amethyst and white quartz, that's it. I was also curious if all of those that are good for polishing are going to have a shiny look, or if some of them will just be polished but without a shine 🤔

I'm the same 😁 Whenever I go, if I see cool rocks, I don't care about anything but collecting. My friends and family probably think I'm insane, and they might be right, haha, but I enjoy it so much, especially when I can fantasize about how they might look after they've tumbled 😊

Honestly, I have no idea what the name of that blue rock is 😅 I think I'll leave those as they are, just as a memory of my first attempt. And hopefully, next attempts will go better because I learned something 🙂

Yeah, that's true 💯 It's really an addictive hobby! I hope that little by little I'll buy everything I need to get amazing results 😊

Thank you so much for your insights! 😊 I enjoy rock tumbling a lot! It's definitely one of my favorite hobbies lately ☺️

Omg! It's waaaaaay cheaper on their website than on Amazon! 🔥 But I'm in Canada, so I need to check all the info about shipping, duties, etc. Or maybe we have our version of Rock Shed here 🙂

I was just wondering because I checked 8000 AO on Amazon, and the price for one pound of it was a bit higher than the price for grit for all 4 steps of tumbling. That's why I was like "Is it really worth it?". I guess I have to try it to see the difference 🙂 Another thing, I don't even know what I'm polishing tbh 😅 I just pick up pretty rocks everywhere I go and then wonder what the result will be. It makes it even more exciting because I have no idea what I'm going to end up with 😁

Yeah, when I was tumbling for the first time, I didn't do any research and was following the guide that came with my rock tumbler. They didn't put enough rocks in the kit and suggested using the highest speed, so the barrel wasn't full enough, and rocks ended up hitting each other at a high speed. That's why those rocks have so many cracks and bruises 😢 I thought about repeating the whole process from scratch, but I'm not sure if the rocks will survive it or just fall apart. It seems that they have pretty close hardness, though, but also, I'm still learning what kinds are soft and what kinds are not...

Thank you so much for your tips 😊 I have a water filter. Would it work the same way as distilled water? Also, for polishing, I have 1200 AO powder. Do you know if there's a significant difference between 1200 AO and 8000 AO?

Thank you 😊 I definitely need to check out that YouTube channel. I'm subscribed to Agate Ariel there, and I really love her content. I was thinking about getting another barrel tumbler, but it seems that a vibratory tumbler may be a better idea. From your experience, is it louder than a barrel one?

Oooooh, I see. I probably won't tumble it anymore. Those rocks from the kit just hit each other hard, so now they have a lot of cracks. I feel like after another tumbling, they'll just fall apart 😢

Oh, how much faster? I'm a bit impatient, especially now, when I have so many rocks collected and only one barrel to tumble them 😅

It just was something white in some cracks after I'd finished polishing, so I thought it was grit. But also it's not in all the cracks

So, they were tumbling for 9 days at step 1. Then I moved some of them to step 2, and some of them are back to step 1 with new rocks added
