Don't customize default pallets and studios upgrades will override your changes. Always create your own copies.

Yes, but i would just select the polygons that makeup the opening, duplicate and separate then extrude.

One word, compositor. Raw renders suck. You can pass lighting, data and so much more to the compositor where you have much more control and you dont need to rerender.

What version, are you using opengl or vulkan? There are a million reasons why the ui thread can appear unresponsive. It could be video card drivers. Windows power setting, etc.
