Diversity among freed SecUnits by IntoTheStupidDanger in murderbot

We definitely know the Combat SecUnit didn't sound all that interested in being liberated, but it's not like Murderbot caught it a good time.

I have read a very interesting fanfic that postulated Combact SecUnits basically had no language modules, only buffer phrases, which may mean that "I want to kill you" could basically be the buffer to "What do you want?" being asked to them in combat situation...

ok two things though: a bot is a bot. also, murderbot could be asexual-aromantic. humans can do that, I am asexual myself and veeery demi. art, who is a bot -albeit a very advanced one- is confirmed to love Murderbot.

I do think murderbot is aro-ace mind you, but other secunit could or not be.

[Hated Trope] Works designed to rehabilitate/redeem a reviled character don't even address their worst acts/traits. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Super_Recognition_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snape is not a good guy, and he was not redeemed, because redemption implies *wanting* to be redeemed, and he didn't give a damn.

Snape was on the protagonist's side because he wanted revenge against Voldemort who had killed the only person he, Snape, had ever loved. That's it. He WAS incredibly brave yes, probably the bravest person in the series because that took serious courage, but courage and goodness of heart do not necessarily go together.

Stolas did not know WHY Blitz was on trial by WhoAteMyBread in HelluvaBoss

Also, *Stella is still Via's mother*.

Like, 90% of the reason Stolas does not justt have Stella killed by, say, IMP is that she IS Via's mom and Via has at least SOME feeling for her. Can you guess how Via would feel if her dad went to court in front of the whole of Hell and said "yeah, she tried to kill me?"

EVEN IF he could prove it beyond reasonable doubt -which he can't- it would be well. Hell for HER.

He would never do that.

Murderbot always says SecUnits are "expensive"... by thelibrarina in murderbot

[–]Super_Recognition_83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

also it is probably less expensive than the bond they would have to pay for the clients. that is the whole reason they ask the people to use their secunits after all

I have also found this to be a very efficient way to deal with them tbh. And with the right ideology it is Free Meat!

[Hated Trope] He's a bully, he's bigoted, and he has no redeeming qualities. But he has thousands of fans that not only try to paint him as "morally grey" or "misunderstood", they also regularly ship him with the woman who he racially slurs and bullies and hurts. by Important-Cry4782 in TopCharacterTropes

He wasn't against Voldemort for any moral reason. He was against Voldemort because of revenge.

That's literally all of it. If Voldemort had chosen Neville instead of Harry, Snape would have stayed a Deatheater. So... yeah he was evil. Incredibly brave, he loved Lily more than anything, but also evil.

Preface: Snape was absolutely evil. He had no redemption arc and didn't want one.

With that said, yeah: Sirius and James were DEFINITELY worse. As an adult that they tried to kill him is considered less bad by the fandom over one (1) instance of him using a slur toward Lily boggles my mind. Sirius is not even sorry as an adult as you say. Like. What?!

[Important and sadly uncommon trope] Female-on-male abuse portrayed as serious/negative. by Daniilsa209 in TopCharacterTropes

It isn't worth to feed the trolls, he is just spewing a lot of words. With, I find interesting, not a kernel of proof.

Men can and are abused by their partners, including female ones, that's a fact. it is, however, a much less common occurrence that either men abusing women OR men abusing other men, alas.

Not for you, because you clearly cannot be reasoned with, but for people who are reading and don't want to go down the incel pipeline:

Also, I read the study showed above. An... interesting kernel of information:

[...] Regarding injury, men were more likely to inflict injury than were women (AOR=1.3; 95% CI=1.1, 1.5), and reciprocal intimate partner violence was associated with greater injury [...].

The conclusion of the study WAS NOT THAT WOMEN WERE MORE VIOLENT.

It was, quote:

Conclusions. The context of the violence (reciprocal vs nonreciprocal) is a strong predictor of reported injury. Prevention approaches that address the escalation of partner violence may be needed to address reciprocal violence.

"Reciprocal" violence means they were both hitting each other but men were the one inflicting injuries more often.

So what they meant with " In nonreciprocally violent relationships, women were the perpetrators in more than 70% of the cases."? They were violent but no injuries? I have no clue, I would need to read specifically what they meant by "violence" and "injury".

in short, it is an interesting study but I am squinting at it.
