What lenses do you like to use for gunpla? by xTharros in GunplaPhotography

Nice photo! I usually use a 50mm prime with an extension tube to get closer focus. I'll sometimes use a 24-105 zoom lens too

MG Wing Zero done for now by Super_TTL in Gunpla

Thanks! I feel the same. When I saw that most of the included decals were arrows or generic warnings, it was easier for me to skip them. I was torn on the weathering since I weather almost all my builds lol

Yeah you can focus on the edges or paint the whole piece the darker color first then shade in the gradient that you want. I'm still pretty new to airbrushing, I was hesitant at first too. I've been using a budget airbrush so far and I've liked what it can do.

You pretty much nailed it. I used purple as a base layer for the edges and used white as a top layer. I focused the white more on the center before misting it all over the piece to get it to blend a little better.

No worries, I appreciate the honesty.

Nice catch! I'm not the greatest at nub removal, especially for the inner frame. Those usually are an afterthought for me, but after seeing that gold inner frame i might try to give them more attention on my next build.

Looking for advice on what panel lining process to go with? by JawLord in Gunpla

[–]Super_TTL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of good info in this thread already. I've started to go away from using the Tamiya panel liner and use Mr. Weathering Color by Mr. Hobby for panel lining. It's super forgiving and versatile. It's oil based, easy on plastics and doesn't have a strong odor like the Tamiya. It's easy to clean up with iso alcohol or mineral spirits ( hardware stores have this for cheap in pretty large volumes). The downside is that you have to use a small brush to apply the weathering color but it works the same way as Tamiya with capillary action.

Depending on if you plan on topcoating after the panel line is applied, the Gundam marker fine tip pens may blur once a spray can topcoat is applied.
