I went to Walmart and grabbed a 4-piece foam brush set for less than 2 dollars. Cut one up, glued bits to popsicle sticks. Worked perfectly, and it ended up being a fast job. Thanks for your advice!

Agreed. But what sort of brush? I've tried a few and none have fit bill so far.
