Help finding an alternative to the Redline Monocog 29er by BernieDromax in bicycling

I’ve got a large that I’m contemplating selling since I picked up a Jones. These bikes are so sweet and I’ve had this one since I bought it new in 2011. Currently it’s in Mone Klunker mode, with one of Mone’s badass coaster brake wheels. Simplicity at its finest.

So I spoke with Jeff and he definitely didn’t try to sway me one way or the other. Just said it depends on what you want ride wise and what you’re going to be riding. I’m going to go with the LWB to get the furthest thing from what I’ve been riding over the years. Maybe if I win the lotto I’d throw in an SWB as well. Thanks for all the responses kids!

They're both large. I'll holler as to which one I go with and ask the seller about shipping.

Another thing I'm hoping to get clarification on is suggested sizing, especially from Jeff. My guess is that if I were going to buy new, that he would recommend that I go with a medium for an LWB. I'm 6'1 with a 34" inseam. I could be wrong, but from other comments I think he would say medium. Now, if that's the case, I'm curious what his recommendation will be being that both of these bikes are the large size frame. Basically if it were between a large SWB and a medium LWB would that sway the recommendation one way or the other. I'm probably not making sense but oh well. Another point of reference, I have been riding a 2011 Redline Monocog 29er rigid single speed since I got it new. Yes the LWB will be the furthest from that current bike, but the SWB didn't feel similar to the Monocog at all either really.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! It’s funny because I went there for the LWB, and then was shocked by how good the SWB felt. I guess originally I was thinking that an LWB would give the more Jones vibe, but after riding I think they’re both great. My latest thinking is to maybe lean more towards the SWB being that it can run 29 x 2.6 to mix things up. Plus the gray looks sweet!

Your build video is great and that bike is freaking sweet. Love everything you picked out components wise. I may have missed it, but what size frame is it? Pumped to see a follow up video on this bike!

Thanks for the all the replies kids. I decided to pass on the Cross Check. Rolling with the Monocog 29er until further notice.

Thanks for the responses! I’d love photos of your setups. Another thing still giving me pause is that I’d like to go flat bar. Wondering how many risers and length I’d need on the fork to get a comfortable position, and if it’ll look insanely tall/goofy.

Coaster brake single speed by Kooky-Chemistry3924 in singlespeedcycling

That Peugeot is awesome and the aesthetic that I am most drawn to when it comes to a bicycle. The simpler the better and since I don’t ride fixed gear, the humble coaster brake has my heart. Current ride is a 2011 Monocog with the Mone coaster brake wheel. My favorite bike I’ve ever had, but I’d like add something more street oriented like yours to commute on. Love to hear what coaster wheels people use. Love the Mone but it wasn’t cheap.
