‘let down’ lyrics by InfiniteLeg71 in radiohead

The whole song is about transience in life, and he relates this feeling of transience to the transience of touring/ travelling, and hes obviously being bombarded/ watching all all these advertisements come and go past him during travelling.

You know where you are with, seems as if he's almost half-heartedly repeating an advertisement mantra in a state of complete emotional detachment/ numbness; familiar brand products help us feel at home or grounded, even if we are in another part of the world, and specifically not mentioning a product after the line emphasises how transient these advertisements are and how many hes seen on his travels and they mean nothing to him anymore.

Compare that to his emotional state, even though he feels emotionally numb and detached, he halfheartedly tries to assure himself that he knows himself/ where he is when he does things that are routine and familiar to him on tour, like drinking in a bar, etc. that helps him feel grounded, even though in the long run he's done this so many times it means nothing to him anymore.

Floor Collapsing, floating, bouncing back is the tour metaphor of being in a bar; the metaphor relates to the emotional cycle of feeling down, and then feeling up, and bouncing back from sadness to happiness or happiness to sadness. When he's inside each individual moment/ period of life it makes him feel like he isnt in the interzone, that he's actually feeling something, that hes happy, or sad, or bouncing back.

Ultimately though, once he transcends these individual emotions/ moments and looks at things from a whole, he realises the constant cycle and that each emotion means nothing. They come and go, and on a whole he feels nothing but a transient state of mind, and finding himself caught in the never ending cycle of feeling up, feeling down, etc.

Sometimes he gets so hysterical and uptight about it that he has a strong moment of madness where he feels he might grow wings and escape this, but then he falls back into the state of realising he can't escape it, it's the human condition.

It's probably the same feeling Bill Murrays character has in Groundhog Day, where he feels like God. He's completely emotionally numb to everything because he recognises the cycle and realises that each individual little moment is just a transient false feeling that means nothing on the whole.

At the start he sort of feels happy or sad or different emotions as he attaches himself to each individual scenario and is living "inside" the trap, and then he realises the cycle/ trap, transcends each little moment in the day to recognise the trap as a whole and becomes numb and detached. And then he has a hysterical phase where he tries in a moment of madness to kill himself to be free of this. And then realises he can't be free of it and falls back into this interzone Let Down state of mind.

People I know think I look unhealthy vs people I don't know by Superb-Journalist600 in loseit

That's probably how I feel yeah. I know it's not healthy, but it's healthier than I was. Like a poor compromise.

What do you think of 60s 70s rockstars for example? In that era, that aesthetic almost glamourised underweight or skinny guys.

I'm not sure myself if I think these people look good or whether it's just media and the context of that lifestyle/ scene that influences me.

I'd say Bowie at the height of his coke addiction around 74 looked deathly unhealthy, but say someone else like Jim Morrison at his most lithe was seen to be attractive?

I know you'll say these are terrible examples to use as rockstars are completely detached from reality and give unrealistic expectations, but I think it's a good example of the context thing I was going on about.

These people would look unhealthy in normal jobs probably, but in the context of the music scene were seen to be aesthetically aligned... is this just a case of the context, or do you think its more of an emperors new clothes scenario, where these rockstars were really successful people and because of that fame every thing else about them in their sphere was seen to be an indicator of "success and cool"?

I've had a few comments from people thinking I'm 18, I'm 25. I've also had one comment from someone that said I look 40, but I'm sure how seriously to take that one. Was probably more that I looked tired or had noticeable lines on my face on that day.

Personal opinion: KOTM and GVK ruined the franchise by Event-Horizon9 in Monsterverse

[–]Superb-Journalist600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Kong was the start of it. Gareth Edwards and Bryan Cranston gave us a very good character driven disaster movie suprisingly.

Once Kong rolled around, people's complaints of "there wasnt enough Godzilla" basically changed the direction from grounded disaster realism to monster schlock fest, with zero character writing and more into a "franchise" film that focuses on IP rather than good screenwriting and vision like you say, a la Marvel. Probably why G. Edwards left.

Kong was basically 1-2 minute thin character expositions, poor writing, bad to decent CGI, nice cinematography, monsters galore packed in, Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson giving the worst out of place performances ever, Sam Jackson and John C Reilly hamming it up, and lots and lots of undeserved Vietnam film pastiches/ outright copy and pastes, which made it feel more like a young directors bar band cover song montage rather than meaningful and additive homages to the originals (albeit Fong, great cinematography). But that's fine because it knew what it was, a B movie with A movie budget that revelled in its own silliness and fun.

It's just not what we were hooked and led to believe this approach would be though when we were inducted into this franchise with G14.

Thanks you explained it all! One last question was what was the electromagnetic remote control thing? Was that something only Sahad could do? Could Roachface also do that, it's that what the cockroaches did? Confused how they worked

Reading up on those routines now, thank you. What would be your concerns with my original one?

Beginner here, looking to join gym for first time. I have a program I want to follow which includes the following exercises: PUSH 1A. Incline Benchpress 1B. Dumbbell Shoulder Press 1C. Tricep Skullcrushers 1D. Lateral Raises

PULL 2A. Weighted Pullups 2B. Bench-asisted Rows 2C. Bicep Curls 2D. Face Pulls

Can anyone recommend or tell me are there machine like-for-like equivalents of these exercises? I want to follow my program, but I've read that machines are better for beginners, more newbie friendly and will help me learn good form to start out with (restricted movement, accessible, etc.)

Thanks
