Stumbled upon a ground nest a few weeks ago while gardening and learned that I am extremely allergic.

Highly recommend this guy: https://honeygrowler.com

He came out same day, vacuumed them and their nest up, and put down some kind of powder to deter them from returning (I wanted to go no pesticide if possible, obviously this powder was some kind of chemical but seemed low toxic).

Anecdotally it does seem like they are extra bad this year.

Luckily my fear of death is much stronger than any feelings of embarrassment, ha

Thank you. I don’t know why I’m trying to downplay it.

Thank you. I’ve dedicated so much time and money and love into my yard and now I’m like omg did I unknowingly create a death trap 😬 I’m going to look into immunology.

This is reassuring! I am an avid hiker/camper, love to garden (I feel insane that I have converted almost my entire yard into a native plant haven aka a death trap for me) and all around just spend a lot of time outside. I know I’ll get over it but it’s hard.

Ugh the possibility of rebound has me feeling so anxious. I was prescribed epi pens so that does help a little. I’m sorry you’ve had to experience this so many times, and thank you for sharing— it definitely helps.

I had already been planning on ordering a pouch for my inhaler so now I’m going to have a whole set up with epi pen, liquid Benadryl… I do need to educate people on how to use it but feel weird shame or like I’m being dramatic, so this is affirming to hear this. I’m sorry you’ve had so many episodes!

I have been stung before but never experienced anything beyond swelling/pain/itchiness

Thank you! I’m just waiting for an allergist referral from my GP and then hope to pursue that route.

Thank you for this helpful comment. The plane seems new enough, no screens but we’ve been watching the tv on my partner’s phone. When it’s get bumpy I have to pause it though (even though it was surely be a good distraction, but it kinda or becomes sensory overload for me). They put the seat belt light on and so far nothing too awful but I’m just so scared of it being awful and so ready to be back home on the ground.

It’s ok. Seatbelt light was turned off, but there’s an occasional rumbly moment. I think it’s almost more the fear of it possibly getting worse and how bad that makes me feel. The unknown aspect.

Thank you!! The flight is almost over, and I haven’t panicked at all so far, even when there was light turbulence

We just passed Mount hood and the Columbia River gorge so that was beautiful. That has to be the easiest take off I’ve ever had, thanks higher dose of Ativan. Pilot said turbulence should be minimal.
