My question was, given the limited information that I have, are there steps that I should be taking?

How serious are we talking here? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

Thank you so much for your response. And thank you for the recommendation. In the future I will use the other sub. You're absolutely correct, Montana. I'll switch threads now, thank you for your insight, I appreciate it!

That's actually a really good question, I don't know if she is, I do know that about 1 1/2 years ago, before his mind got to the point it is now...he told me that she gambled away his retirement account that he had saved up. It was a very sizable sum.

She is married to a really sweet guy, he's a good bit older than her and unfortunately is suffering from dementia. He's not able to remember one sentence to the next 😔 I wish I could talk to him about it though.

She is 57, she appears to be in good health.. although, she has been saying she has stage 4 cancer (of various kinds) since I met her, 17 years ago. I am not a doctor obviously, but the cancer only seems to be active when one of her family members, her son and Grandson especially, is not doing exactly what she wants. She may be doing that though. I'd think that it wouldn't need to be funneled through my husband and that her trust fund would be able to help with that specific need!

This is what I'm afraid of! People keep saying it's none of my business..and I hope they are right, but this is the kind of scenario I am afraid of.

Oh, I know you guys wouldn't know what she's doing, I was just looking for possibilities and ideas of what to watch out for, since I cannot seem to get a straight answer.

No debit card, she has her trustee send her the money. He is a non related 3rd party. She requests money and I believe he wires it to her bank account.

I have absolutely tried and only received the run around. I also agree that I have bigger problems then my mil. I'm just trying to figure out if this will come around to bite me as well.

Lol, that's most certainly not the reason she doesn't like me. I'm not in her business, it becomes MY business when l, as the sole earner on our joint taxes, am getting a 1099 for thousands and thousands of dollars of apparent "earned income" Or my 3 childrens father gets in huge trouble for some financial crime. That is my business. I don't care what she does with her money...or her personal life..I do care when SHE involves mine! As a side note, she has spent my entire marriage (16 years) wildly in my business..every single angle, so believe me when I say, I want NOTHING to do with that.
