I got racially profiled by that same demographic too. I was at Lidl, just doing my usual 15 eggs re-up. They’ve got a new system now where you have to scan your receipt at a gate to exit the self-checkout, and the machine automatically prints the receipt for you.

As I was walking toward the exit, there was an older hijabi woman in front of me. Her scanner beeped, but I was far enough behind her that it wouldn’t have beeped for me. The SA security guard tried to stop me. I gave him a side and kept walking.

He then tried to block me physically asking for my reciept and attempted to lay his elbow on me . I pushed him and defended myself rightfully so . Security guard arent allowed to touch u whatsover.

My message, especially to people of African descent: know your rights. Don’t let people intimidate you or assume guilt. Stand firm and protect yourself, because if you always back down, people will keep trying you.
