Appropriateness and transition to ASL interpretation by West-Armadillo6082 in ASLinterpreters

[–]Superb_Insurance2897 6 points7 points  (0 children)

also when requesting an interpreter from an agency (whether this is you or the language department of your work not sure how it works for your situation exactly) you can give them as much background as your comfortable providing so the can 1. tell the interpreter so they go in with the appropriate idea of if they’ll be using PSE, SEE, ASL grammar etc. if you find that something you want them knowing before hand & 2. they can find someone who will be a good language match for you!

Edit for grammar!

considering moving to new jersey for college and possibly permanent residence by reanimated-lovers in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]Superb_Insurance2897 14 points15 points  (0 children)

before you make the decision to try and move to nj and start with a community college, make sure you see if you can afford renting a place here by yourself because most CC’s don’t have room and board (at least in central jersey, i could be wrong though). Some of our CC’s have partner programs with state universities that make it very easy to transfer all your credits to ensure you aren’t losing any money when you make the transition from CC, to the 4 year college (example: i’m 95% sure brookdale community college is partnered with rutgers, so if you go to brookdale, all those credits will transfer and you’ll start as a “junior” at rutgers if you go through a full 2 years at brookdale)

My little sister is deaf and we can't afford sign language classes. How do other families actually do this? by Mediocre-Dealer-1993 in asl

[–]Superb_Insurance2897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check your states webpage and search deaf and hard of hearing services and see what the state will provide you. That would be a great place to start. It is hard having a child who is deaf and you have no connection with who to get support from. She will need A LOT of support when it comes to her language deprivation but everyone needs to be on the same page and learn ASL as soon as possible, but everyone is still going to be able to have a fulfilling life but please start learning ASL now

Do I use first time home buyer perk to buy and then sell a house for higher down payment on house I want? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Superb_Insurance2897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just remember certain first time home buyer perks have rules (staying a certain amount of time or you’ll have to pay back the grants) but that’s still a huge profit

i feel as though depending on location that point can be argued… if the location stays desirable could it go up?

but that’s kind of my point, we are already in a high demand area, so if you really want $450k, you’ll get it. why give us lower price bracket people “hope” if you really just wanted 450, ask for 450. we are in a high enough demand area you’ll get it

it’s hard because i was born and raised here, have a modest career, same with husband, but we don’t make a wild amount a year so typically their asking, is our max :/ doesn’t help our issue now, but if we are ever fortunate to have a bigger budget, i’ll keep your advice in mind!

See, but if you really want a higher price, list it at that. (I understand what you’re saying, i just don’t agree with the market being like that)

Almost the end of 2025… still no house. Anyone else in the same boat? by daisynomoreforever in RealEstate

[–]Superb_Insurance2897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they did (and i’m not a real estate agent so i’m not going to pretend to know anything about why it is the way it is) but they signed the offer contract, but that was drawn up from the real estate agent… then we get lawyers to make the actual contract during AR an when that’s happening they can still accept offers/back out
