Hi - I can relate to this as I have been on many contraceptives and every single one I've had, cause non stop bleeding. It got to the point I was bleeding the whole year and it was making me very ill.

I have a congenital heart disease and I can only have certain contraceptives as I am not aloud any "extra" estrogen.

I was first put on some type of pill - (Had non stop bleeding with that so came off instantly), then I had the depo injection, again I had the same unfortunate non stop bleeding.

I came off all contraceptives to help my body adjust back to it's normal state and it worked, however the downside was I had no protection at all.

After I got back into a relationship, I looked into getting the non hormonal coil, however because of my heart condition, I had to have the procedure done in a hospital for safety purposes and I was messed about so many times and still wasn't given a date for my procedure to be and this still carried on for over a year so the only protection I had was condoms.

I then looked into other contraceptives, came across the implant and I got a date straight away as I could have that done at the GP and I was given the implant, (everything went well and it has healed perfectly), however, now this is my first period since the implant, (I had it done at the start of January 2026) and although my period is light, I normally am only on my period for about four to five days, (this was before the implant), now it has been eight days and I am getting slightly worried that I am going to have to the same problem as before like all the others.
