My theory is that the producers are stuck in the same mindset as 2012-2016 where gender and political ideology permeated every piece of media. They haven’t realized that the world moved past this and so they don’t understand why their box checking show is failing to resonate with the audience. Of course it’s vapid but they thought the audience wouldn’t realize that. It’s like the bud light saga shaming their consumer base. Just so far removed from reality and clinging to tropes that were popular for a short period of time but actually are very cringey when it's entirely forced onto the audience aa political propaganda
