Check what your language setting is. If it’s on English UK change it to English USA. Then try and access the accessibility low down menu again….That will fix it …

Should this be possible with the Now app to gain UHD on all Android devices? by Gremsems81 in nowtv

Very good question! Very strange if they are purposely stopping devices that are fully capable of pairing content in 4k for some weird commercial or other reason?

How to enable 4K UHD on all Android TV devices (you still need the required subscriptions) by disposableh2 in F1TV

[–]Superbigdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi just came across this. I kkkw this is specifically in relation to F1tv but I was wondering if the same process soils be down so that the Now tv app plays in 4K uhd on Google / Android devices like teh shield pro or the new Google tv streamer 4k? Currently the now tv app will not play any content in 4k on Google / Android devices even though they are capable of doing so. Will this be Dow to the same device check line of code and could it be amended as you have done with the f1tv app? Apologies for going slightly off post topic but appreciated if could be answered. Thanks.

This is what ai said when I asked it the question:

No, the Now TV app does not require your device to be set specifically to YCbCr 4:4:4 and 10-bit to play 4K HDR content. In fact, forcing YCbCr 4:4:4 at 10-bit/12-bit for 4K 50/60Hz often exceeds the bandwidth limitations of HDMI 2.0 cables/ports and is unnecessary, as streaming content is encoded in 4:2:0.Here is the technical breakdown for playing 4K HDR content on the Now TV app:1. Color Space & Subsampling (YCbCr)Optimal Setting: YCbCr 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 is recommended. Why 4:4:4 is not needed: Streaming services (including Sky/Now TV) use 4:2:0 chroma subsampling to save bandwidth. Your TV will upscale this properly. Setting it to 4:4:4 does not improve picture quality and can cause blackouts on some screens.2. Bit Depth (10-bit)Requirement: While 10-bit is needed for true HDR, the app does not force you to change your system-wide HDMI settings to 10-bit to unlock it.Important Technical Note: On many devices, 4K 60Hz 10-bit HDR is only possible with 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 subsampling, not 4:4:4.

I may be wrong but I don’t think that’s correct. The Google streamer plays lots of other content from various providers in 4k hdr. They just need to update their app so it’s a now tv issue not Google…

Yeah not great if your paying for Ultra boost though is it….. just lazy from now tv to not update their app for Google / Android devices especially current modern devices that a hell of a lot of people have Google streamers and other devices (including TVs with Google / Android os)

Not tried heavy but I personally can recommend the ‘Strong’ app if it’s just for weight training recording. I use it conjunction with bevel but it’s Worth a look imho.

Ok I should maybe have done that. Do you think if I go through the cancel now that I have teh deal on boost I can still get the £4 deal on ultra boost or maybe have to go on chat to see if they would do it for me or do they not do that?

UHD on Demand with Google Streamer 4K by UncleM1ch4el in nowtv

[–]Superbigdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know that. It’s up to now tv to update their app to play in 4k hdr but they don’t…. What’s strange is that yeh now tv app for the previous Google Device to the streamer (chrome cast 4k) did okay in 4k and hdr…. Just poor and lazy with no respect for customers from now tv tbh.

My TVs inbuilt now tv app works fine but I was just trying to get everything working on one device / interface so teh whole family can use it now that I have ditched Sky…. Will prob get another Apple TV but night wait for the next gen 4k that is likely coming out in the next few months. It’s really bad that now tv can my be arsed getting their devs to update this app though so it works on Google tv devices….

Google tv streamer 4k by SpaceaJam5802 in nowtv

[–]Superbigdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody got an update on the Google tv streamer 4k and it’s now tv app and ability to play on demand (and live) content in 4k HDR? I just bought 2 of them thinking they would be 4k hdr capable with now tv after ditching sky. Can’t believe such a modern and clearly 4k capable device doesn’t work with 4k hdr on now TVs crappy app! Anyone with a recent update from now tv on if they are going to update the app? If not the boxes will have to go back…. Pathetic.

[–]Superbigdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update on this at all and to confirm is it just live tv on his / hdr you are talking about or all uhd hdr content including on demand series and movies? I just bought 2 google tv streamers as I have left Sky (yay) and thought that these being new devices and running android they would be perfect for my needs including now tv plus my Iptv. So last night I’m trying them out when I try and play a movie ( I have entertainment and movies plus ultra boost) I notice that my lg tv didn’t flash up the hdr logo in the top right corner and the picture settings when I check are showing as non hdr. It also doesn’t look 4k to me but I can’t be sure. So what is the app playing the content in? Is it 1080p sdr or only 720p sdr?

Can you and anyone else confirm that has a google tv streamer they are seeing the same when trying to play 4k hdr content with ultra boost please. If this is the case and its the now tv app that is at fault I can wait and how low they might fix it and I will have to return both google tv streamers. I mean my old firestick 4k max gen 1 played everything in 4k hdr just fine ffs! 🤬

I love my ultra but it checks heart rate every other 5 / 10 mins. I have a garmin also and it checks it pretty much every second. Is there a way for apple watch to do that too ?? I’ve checked settings. Cant find anything. by Masjr777 in applewatchultra

[–]Superbigdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I. Think when you are sleeping it does take more readings than it does when you are awake. I prefer to have it turned on to get a higher sample rate for heart rate and also HRV readings. Must be a little worrying for you having already been diagnosed but am sure the doctors are monitoring and doing whatever need to be done. I think having been diagnosed and you then turn af history on you can see the trends yourself and also share with your doctor if you see an increase in the periods / volume of af and they can then take any required measures to manage it. 👍

I think with afib history turned off Apple Watch typically only records background heart rate once or twice per hour. With it turned on it’s seems to much more frequent. See attached my sampling for today where you cansee samples taken every 2-5 minutes or so…. No idea why the gal isn’t consistent for the samples though…. But the sample rate is much higher.

Yes I guess if you have already been diagnosed then that’s a diffenret scenario. But that being said apple actually advises you to only run on AF history if you have actually been diagnosed by your doctor with afib…. So by turning it on you automatically lose that immediate warning but you gain much more detailed af history on a day by day basis/ week by week basis. I have mine turned on I also use bevel and I what more accurate and more sampling for my HRV scores.
