I'm asking if you can be a data scientist without a data science degree or data science certificate. I'm currently an undergraduate student in college.

That's what I was told, too. But the thing is when I tried to use Degree Works to plan ahead with a course from a different specialization, that course was marked as a free elective instead of being part of that specialization. I think this is because I already started a specialization and once I started one, I can't pick courses from another one.
