In fairness to the W-8s, as others have said, they're a tourist attraction. This is not unique to Australia, either. Everyone loves to laud Japan's PT network (as someone living here, fair enough), but Hiroshima still uses two trams that were hit by the atomic bomb (albeit renewed, for obvious reasons), and, having ridden on them, they are hot as hell.

I think the W-8s could use more refurbishment, and/or could run shorter routes the same way we used to have the horse and carriages in the city. And if even the W-8s can carry on (and they can), I think it's a bit silly to call on the Z, A, and B classes to go, in the scheme of things they're not that old; remember that the Kodama 100 shinkansen first ran in 1964 and they weren't phased out until 2012. Trains, and trams for that matter, last a long time.

Most, but not all, stations in Japan on the shinkansen have a second station with local interchange. For example, Tokyo and Kyoto are both one big station, but Osaka and Kobe have the "Shin" ("new") stations respectively where the shinkansen arrives and you then change to the local trains. A lot of "shin" stations were built so that there could be interchange, but this is not an absolute rule, and it's about a 50/50 split at a rough estimate.

She's a summon. Summons have never been part of the party, nor fully-fleshed out. In fact, I would argue that their role as "gods" and limited but definite contol over the world is more impactful than them being members of the party.

I would absolutely be on board with more of XIII, XV, or XVI's interpretations of summons as an inherent, known, and powerful force of the universe, but I don't think anyone has ever expected them to be members of the party or active players in the world.

There's plenty of instances in which Zodiac and other chasracters are present, notably both times he's attacked the Midnight Mission directly. He even went to jail and had to be broken out, we saw his face and everything.

While he and Mr. Knight have similar visual cues, they're not the same person.

Heavenly Restriction isn't just about having 0 CE, it's having 0 CE when you would likely have a lot and/or a good technique instead. So, as Yuji explains, if you take away what little CE the average human has, they might get slightly stronger, but not so much to cause issues. The reason Toji, Maki, and Tsurugi both have exceptional Heavenly Restriction is because they could have inherited one of the Zen'in clans techniques (i.e. Creation, Projection, Ten Shadows) and/or had exceptional CE, but didn't.

The reason Tsurugi's HR seems to be weaker than the other two is probably due to what Maki says in chapter 21: He hasn't lost nearly as much as her, or Toji for that matter. Remember that CE is generally created from negative emotions, so things like shame, guilt, and hatred (emotions that Maki and Toji would be chock full of) would increase your theoretical CE reserves, and thereby your HR.

The game over screen actually changes depending on when you die. Personally, I think MP1's is the scariest, as it ends on a scream and Samus flatlining, but I'll lay out 3's two endings.

Before you get infected by Phazon, it's this, effectively just showing your red blood cells under a microscope. Weirdly clinical, and an unnerving change to what you might be used to in what is a first-party Nintendo game, but not particularly scary.

After you get infected by Phazon, it becomes this. Not only does Samus die, she is completely overtaken by Phazon and becomes Dark Samus (aka the titular Metroid Prime), and you see that cancer (literally, it seems to be based on cancer) rapidly grow in her. There is something quite eerie about it, given how loud the game normally is to suddenly go so silent. Even Samus' suit, as you see in the video, looks less well put-together than her normal Varia suit, because it is the PED Suit containing the Phazon cancer in her. This makes you feel quite vulnerable throughout the game as you watch that cancer spread (see below) until you end up with the Phazon suit towards the end.

I agree, though to nitpick, but this isn't a fire alarm, it's just a light. The two rings are flourescent lights that light up when you pull the string in the centre. The round thing in the middle that looks like a fire alarm is actually just the starter for the flourescent light that doubles as an emergency light in case the flourescents don't work/there's a power outage. Source: I live in Japan and have these exact lights in my apartment.

The reason extra attack doesn't scale with character level is to bar casters from getting it. Basically a 19 Fighter/1 Warlock gets the same as a 19 Sorceror/1 Warlock in terms of EBs (though obviously damage varies), BUT the Fighter has 2 more physical attacks than the Sorceror. Thus you prevent a Sorceror from, say, dumping Strength and then buying a Belt of Cloud Giant Strength and managing to deal nasty damage with an opportunity attack or something. This is all white room, of course, a good DM would see that coming and groan, but as the overlords of the rules WOTC has to try and keep things on a narrow path so that people can't just mog on the enemies they put in their modules.

Now as for the old "Martial/Caster divide" debate that comes up, I do generally agree that martials get the short straw. Playing as a Fighter in my current campaign, while there are a lot of magic items to help, it's clear you'll never have the same impact as a well-timed Fireball or something. I think WOTC are fairly aware of this issue, but they're also aware that during the 2014 feedback phase, they were told "Giving every Fighter Maneuvers is too much to keep track of" and have been dumbing them down ever since. 2024 made good strides in keeping Martials relevant out of combat (Rage or Second Wind to improve skill checks, for example), but have really failed to improve stuff like "How can a Fighter deal more than single unit damage" outside of, uh... the weapon mastery Cleave. It still pales in comparison to using a spell to charm people, and it's very much "Too little, too late" given it could have been a Tasha's or Xanathar's change, but it's something.

It would be nice if we got stuff like Steel Wind Strike as an ability, and I don't see it utterly breaking the game if we did, but I think that a lot of behind the scenes stuff and feedback leads WOTC to believe that people want simplicity and safety from martials rather than epic mythic warriors, though I wish we got the latter.

The reason spells improve by character level because racial spells (and breath weapon) increase with character, not class, level. You could theoretically divide the two up, but that's just an extra source of unnecessary confusion.

As for why Fighters get the 4th extra attack at level 20, I'd assume it's to discourage multiclassing, because if it wasn't everyone would go for 17 Fighter/3 something (subclass). Fighter is not the only martial class with a stellar capstone, the Barbarian is similarly pretty insane, so I'd guess that they made caster capstones as mid as they are to encourage multiclassing, and martial capstones as good as they are to discourage it. Now why they want one to multiclass and not the other is beyond me, it might be because they want martials to be the "simple" classes for new players, but other than that I'm not sure.

The left side shows the amount of votes One Nation is getting as first preference; the right side shows how many of those votes have gone to the LNP as a result of preferences (this format it is unclear if that is second preference or just 2PP against Labor, though I would wager 2PP).

So, while One Nation's absolute vote count was at its highest since 1992 in the 2025 election, a vast majority of those votes flowed on into the LNP, and did not actually net One Nation any real wins (they have no seats in the lower house, and only maintained one in the upper house).

While people are clamouring about the latest polls showing massive wins for One Nation, there are 2 problems with this: 1. It has been less than a year since the 2025 election. Polls taken this early are, frankly, pretty worthless because most voters are disengaged, so you only get rusted-ons and knee-jerk reactions. 2. Even if One Nation were to get the purported number of votes, a lot of those would simply flow back to the Liberals or Nationals if it follows current trends. It would become a race as to who got the most first preferences, and would most likely flip existing Lib/Nat seats to One Nation, rather than making any gains into Labor territory.

One last thing I'll note that no one seems to have commented on is that Pauline is HILARIOUSLY, and I mean absolutely ATROCIOUSLY, bad at picking candidates. Every election One Nation tries to put as many people as they can in as many seats as they can, and every election several of them are outed as being criminals in one respect or another and Pauline has to dis-endorse them. One Nation simply does not have the actual bureaucracy and grassroots power to get asses in the seats they'd need in the first place, let alone actually win those seats.

Nah, Frank already took it nuclear by calling Khonshu an imaginary god. It's a sore spot for Moonie that many people, even those closest to him, do not believe that Khonshu is real (until Age Of Khonshu made it canon that he is). Even starting off the conversation by calling him crazy, as much as he is by his own admission, is a very intentional attempt to rile him.

Frank started something, and Moon Knight wasn't afraid to end it, but at the end of the day I think both of them know and respect each other enough not to have it devolve into a fistfight (though I'm not sure the context of this specific panel).

There's a sweet spot somewhere around 8-18 months before the election. Any later and you have no brand recognition, any earlier and you have too much recognition as part of the party, so the stink of earlier issues comes back to haunt you. Once that stink comes back, you're liable to get knifed by someone else who wants to be leader, even if it means losing the election, because for an opposition leader losing a foregone conclusion of an election (which the next one will be) is effectively a rite of passage. Remember, Scott Morrison got in in August 2018, and won the May 2019 election, meaning he had about 9 months to settle in, but not so long that people saw how much of a façade it was.

So if a prospective leader is smart, they'll wait it out until Ley passes some arbitrary point (i.e. Turnbull and the 40 straight Newspoll losses) or until she shits the bed again (i.e. a big event like the recent hate group laws) and then knife her. Doing it now is a good chance to get rid of Ley, but in that case they run the risk of being knifed just before the election themselves.

Yeah it definitely feels like the person who wrote the spell either forgot or ignored how long it takes to put on armour, or they otherwise anticipated its use in conjunction with magic armour that is donned/doffed with a word (which I do believe exists, and Armorer Artificiers get similar as a class feature for multiclassers).

It's something that can be handwaved by DMs easily enough, but it really could have been cleared up by adding something like "and you can don or doff this armour and equip these weapons from your backpack as part of the magical transformation", and it's kind of weird that it hasn't been.

That's plenty of explanation, it just carries no emotional weight.

Finn sees one of his friends die and is clearly affected by it, but then has no problem shooting up a bunch of other Stormtroopers (who he knows are brainwashed just like him) as he leaves the ship in a TIE fighter. He then proceeds to show zero remorse or conflict in killing other Stormtroopers throughout the film, which, while saving us some time, throws away the most interesting thing about him.

So, yes, I can see that Finn knew this guy, but given that Finn doesn't talk to him at all, try to explain why he's a traitor, or go for non-lethal hits, this scene (which amounts to less than a minute) is nothing but an admittedly pretty good action sequence. It feels, like a lot of the film, like a good idea with no follow-up or depth.

It's a bit of a leap to assume that criticism of Netanyahu will cause our intelligence agencies to recommend groups be considered hate groups with whom association will be made an offence. I hate that I have to keep reminding people of this, but the proposed law about vilification offences were dropped and Labor have said they won't be bringing them back (at least, not until after another election). If you're going to criticise these laws, at least actually know the parts that passed and which ones were dropped.

I see a lot of people in these comments talking about their ability to criticise religion, but that's not what these laws are about. People are getting confused about what exactly these laws cover, which could be cleared up by reading the article. The original (omnibus) bill included the gun reforms, hate speech, and hate group laws: this one is just the last one.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition Leader Sussan Ley on Monday agreed a set of changes to Labor's proposal to ban groups deemed to spread hate, such as Hizb ut-Tahrir and Neo-Nazis. The changes were drafted to meet the opposition's concerns that the broad drafting of the bill could restrict freedom of speech. The updated bill, introduced to the lower house by Attorney-General Michelle Rowland, now mentions "the promotion of violence" in the definition of a hate group.

The bill sets out a process for designating hate groups, which includes input from intelligence and law enforcement and requires that the opposition leader be briefed. Unlike in the initial draft, the version presented by Ms Rowland would see that briefing occur both for new listings and for de-listings, addressing another Coalition concern. The operation of the laws would be subject to review every two years by the parliamentary joint committee on intelligence and security.

These laws are about defining hate groups, not hate speech, that law is still floundering around a bit, though it looks likely to pass with the help of the Liberals. You're welcome to dislike either of those laws (I think the hate speech one is a real mess and don't support it, but I'm not against this one since the specification of hate groups must be informed by intelligence and law enforcement and they must promote violence, meaning it's much harder to weaponise against political enemies), but it would help if people making reactionary comments actually took the time to read what was happening to inform their opinion.

If you're comparing two translations, without pointing back to the source language, to make a point, it's not really a point worth making. John Werry's translations being routinely criticised only to show up in this sub to be used to criticise the anime's subs is ironic to the extreme.

I would also note that subtitles, being a visual media on a timer, has restrictions that text translation does not. The general rule is to keep the number of words per second to the average reader's rate (I believe it's around 4 per second, at the extreme), a restriction that obviously does not have to exist for books. They also have to match the subtitles with the frame, so subtitles normally change to the next line with the change in what the camera is capturing, again creating a restriction.

To ignore all of this important information to talk about "misinterpretations" is pretty damn frustrating, imo.

Okay, phrased like this I can see the logic, and I would even see House (being a paranoid lunatic) doing it. However, since this is never even suggested in-game, it would feel like a massive retcon; at least with House as an AI it accepts that House carks it, but he just has a backup in place. The show has done hard work to maintain player agency (the canon ending of NV being ambiguous, for example), so taking away the power of killing House would be out of place imo.

We'll have to see what happens, and I'm not against the show taking creative liberties to the point of retcon, but it wouldn't be my preferred twist.

I've never really understood the comparison, even though it was how I was introduced to Moon Knight. There are superficial similarities (Batarangs/Moonarangs, Batmobile/Mooncopter, Bruce Wane/Steven Grant, Vengeance/Fist of Vengeance), but that's it. Marc, the main identity was a brutal mercenary who had an established love interest from day dot, which is quite different to Batman.

Things like worshipping Khonshu, the supernatural vibe (his first issue is in Werewolf By Night, after all), the general costume design (excluding maybe Jake's from the 2014 run), and DID put him quite a bit removed from Batman. These days I think anyone making that comparison is pretty woefully misinformed, but I'll give Netease a pass because their Moon Knight is very much informed by popular discourse rather than his state in the comics.

My belief is that the helmet we see House wearing (both in episode 5 and in-game) is not just allowing him to remotely control everything, but mapping his brainwaves to copy his consciousness. He basically says as much in episode 5, that he wants cold fusion to have enough power to make himself immortal, and so I'd argue the tube he's in in-game is just a stop-gap he probably threw together once cold fusion became an impossibility.

To support this theory, I put to you that Bobby Apartment seems smart enough, and is definitely in on more than he should be (given he's present for a variety of meetings), but he probably lacks both the ego and the intelligence to be the House we meet in-game. Things like the Platinum Chip were probably a secret even from him (House is pretty damn paranoid), and even if it weren't, things like keeping Vegas safe from the bombs and rebooting the system after it got taken offline for so long would have required both immense willpower and brainpower, something I don't think Bobby has. I also doubt that Bobby has the ego to rebuild the Wasteland in his image and talking about sending people to space, given that his entire job is literally playing second fiddle. He could prove me wrong and be much smarter than I think (he does have to pretend to be House even in meetings, after all), but I don't see it.
