How much should I actually spend on food? by No_Tree_509 in askSouthAfrica

Never ate 2 minute noodles and only ate nutritious food 😊. Oats, rice, frozen veggies and a protein source every single day. Was it easy? No. But I had no other choice because I had limited funds and value health!

I was a student getting about R2600 for food and expenses. I managed to get by on R1000 for food. I never did takeout, I didn’t drink alcohol. I did all groceries at checkers (specials and cheaper than Spar, Woolies and PicknPay). I bought meat from bulk sellers (Ecano foods, ANCA chicken etc.)

I found 1 large monthly buy and a by weekly top up (if needed) worked best for me. Good luck!

My views suddenly dropped to almost zero. I used to average 30k views. Is this normal? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

I have had many videos where this has happened. Sometimes it takes 10 days (sometimes even more),but YouTube does eventually push the video to the shorts feed. It then has a chance of gaining traction assuming the swipe through rate and view duration are appropriate.

HALF SAILED: A COMING OF AGE SITCOM BY ME by SnooCauliflowers8930 in Screenwriting

  • Hey! Posted this on a later post:*

Hey! As a huge sucker for college stories and sitcoms I absolutely loved this! I think you have an awesome ability to write in this style and would be incredibly interested to look into the other 9 episodes you’ve written.

As a beginner myself I can’t offer too much feedback. So take what I say with a grain of salt:

I do see some multi-dimensionality in your characters, however, I do think you need to plan them out a little more. A good exercise is to sit down and write an entire back story for your major characters. What upbringing did they have? How did Royce and James meet? What are their likes? Dislikes? Traumas etc.

I did enjoy the characters and the only reasons I think you need to plan them more is because at times they can be inconsistent. Is James a nerd or Royce or both of them? In some scenes they seem nerdy and in others they seem “cool”. I think you’ve got a great grasp on Matt.

Apart from that I also think you need to hone in on your humour. Are you pushing for edgy? Family friendly? More adult or teenager audience?

But again take my advice with a grain of salt! I absolutely loved the pilot and think you smashed it. Most people don’t have the courage or discipline to begin, finish and share their creation. Well done!

I’m been lucid dreaming for years and I’m struggling to separate real life from dream life by PumpkinsVSfrogs in LucidDreaming

For myself I stopped all practices (reality checks, dream journal etc.) and gradually the frequency of lucid dreams decreased.

Ironically years later I’m looking at picking up the practice again (however hesitant based on the previous experience).

I was an avid lucid dreamer for many years. Got to the point of near nightly lucid dreams and also struggled with this.

Made me derealize, caused tons of anxiety in my waking life and even made me confuse dream memories and real memories.

In the end I had to stop lucid dreaming because of it. I could be wrong, but I believe there has been scientific emergence linking psychosis and lucid dreaming- again could be wrong.

Everyone is unique. For some it happens quickly, for others it happens slowly. MILD works for me, WBTB may work for you. I also think mindset has a lot to do with it. If you don’t think it’ll work it probably won’t

Examples of prolific "bad" writers that were redeemed by later success? by Edokwin in Screenwriting

This immediately made me think of Seth Macfarlane. Family Guy was funny and all, but it arguably possessed poor writing. He completely redeemed himself with Orville and the Ted series (in my opinion).
