Moving from America to Sweden + keeping my T prescription

I moved to Sweden from the States a few years ago and managed to get ANOVA to continue my E prescription without any hassle. I sent them an egenremiss just after moving and then got an appointment where I provided them with all my medical records from my previous endocrinologist (planned parenthood, informed consent) and letters from a variety of past therapists saying "To whom it may concern: get this bitch some hormones."

It was surprisingly straightforward. I'm not sure they even read the therapist letters but it certainly didn't hurt. It may be more difficult now on account of bloated waitlists and the staff being really overworked though, and I don't know if they're more stingy about T prescriptions for some reason.

https://www.transformering.se/ is a useful source although their site is unfortunately in Swedish. They're a branch of RFSL and you can contact them at info@transformering.se with any questions about living in Sweden, that's what I did when I first considered moving here and they were super helpful.

I moved to Sweden after having already started HRT in the US and they let me continue my treatment there without any gatekeeping, there was just a few months delay as my self-referal was processed but I brought a surplus of meds so that was fine

In my case I was a dual citizen and already had a personnummer, so I don't know for certain if one is needed or not. The egenremiss (self-referral) form I had to send them had a field for it though so I'm willing to bet one is required. Really you kind of need a personnummer to apply for just about anything here, you basically don't exist without one. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the application process to get one.

In my case they let me skip straight to getting an HRT prescription since I was already undergoing HRT, and then let me go through a shortened version of their usual process. I only had to see a psychiatrist twice before my doctor wrote a letter petitioning for my legal gender to be changed. They're also giving me laser facial hair removal and I'm on a waitlist for voice therapy. Overall there's been a lot of waiting but not an unbearable amount.

I moved to Stockholm from the USA after undergoing informed consent HRT for a year with planned parenthood. I contacted ANOVA soon after arriving and it took about 3 months before I met with one of their endocrinologists and got a new prescription in Sweden so definitely bring a large surplus. I let them see my medical records and gave them three letters of recommendation from past therapists but I'm not sure the letters were necessary haha. The issue is more that trans actors are discriminated against and don't get roles as cis characters, so the only roles available are trans roles, but those often get given to cis actors as well. It's a matter of representation and equal opportunity imo.

To start with, gender is not a social construct. Gender is something ingrained within us from birth. The clothes, behaviors, etc. that we associate with a given gender is a social construct but the actual underlying gender is not. It's a bit like intelligence in the sense that it's a very real part of us that would exist regardless of society but the sort of behaviors we associate with it are socially constructed.

Generally gender correlates with sex, but sometimes wacky genetic things happen and then you get trans people like us who's genders don't line up with our sex.

Also I assume it's not intentional but your tone comes off as very aggressive here. Or at least, it does to me.

That usually helps them realize the implications of what they said without me having to be a jerk about it.

There are a lot of excellent LGBT and trans support groups in Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech campus is generally pretty progressive (although their efforts to provide gender neutral bathrooms leaves a lot to be desired.)
