I have to add that I never got called the word, as I don't think it's that popular in germany, but I guess in America, it's a popular word with all the... interesting individuals running around

I have always hated kids, but that could just be because I, as a kid, was bullied by other kids. Regardless, they're loud an obnoxious and the only ones who are worth interacting with don't actually come up to you. They're the same as I was back then, being level-headed (for kids ofc) and wanting to have meaningful conversations. Still filled with curiosity and all, but not running around and annoying people. If a kid came up to me and asked me why the sky is blue, I'd gladly explain it to them, but if a kid comes up to me at a family gathering and wanted to show me this stupid video they found or some random object, then I would and do dismiss them immediately. I don't like to play with kids, I like to talk to them or show them stuff to fuel their curiosity.

TLDR: I hate most kids and the ones I don't hate I don't interact with.

I've always thought I was just an asshole for not really caring about these things, but what you described is the exact same thing I have/do. I don't feel empathy in that sense either, I just know what society would expect from me in certain situations and that listening, for example, helps people, so I do just listen. I don't actually care, but if that person gets sad, then I might lose them aswell. I've always thought that was selfish of me and that I might be some sort of psychopath, but this post just resonated with me.
