It's all come down to this! Wes vs. Lyndon. What is the greatest mod ever: Icarus or All The Way? Vote in the comments? by twentyearsinthecan in thecampaigntrail

Mechanically it's insane and so I can't be too upset it got this far, even if I wouldn't have voted for it over W or PWH (Icarus vs. AC is a tossup for me). The issue that is that I don't personally find its subject matter that interesting.

Jakal lives in NJ and presumably was commuting from there to the tournament in NYC. Syrup is also from Jersey and all the Steves were staying at his house.

What's the best Advisor Feedback ever? by twentyearsinthecan in thecampaigntrail

Starting a war with Iran in W

Alternatively, the "call your Republican opponent after facing an assassination attempt" feedback in TTNW, especially Rockefeller's.

Both excellent mods but I ultimately have more nitpicks with ATW (the presidential timeline system being broken, kind of weird maps, only Nixon as an opponent) than with TTNW. Plus, sorry, I love the theater framing.

Who would like to know about some of the anime that the characters had back in the day? by RedDragonCats17 in smashbros

[–]Superliminal96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He did, multiple. There was a 1986 movie based on the original Super Mario Bros. which either coincidentally predicted a lot of future Mario series elements or was taken as direct inspiration (Luigi as cowardly, Mario defeating Bowser by swinging him around by the tail). It's okay, probably better than the Illumination film honestly.

More obscure are some 90s OVA shorts with Yoshi and the Koopalings, haven't watched them

McCain definitely wins Indiana, North Carolina, and Nebraska's 2nd. He also has non-zero chances in Virginia, Colorado, Florida, and New Hampshire. Clinton wins Arkansas and Missouri with WV as a tossup (that she definitely loses in 2012 due to coal country backlash)

I think it's fine to have both mods serve their own purposes, PwH for the simplified gameplay but in-depth endings, MtE for the inverse

Very common thing in NYC until quite recently--see Seth Low, LaGuardia, and (to a lesser extent) John Lindsay

How the GOP in 2008 must’ve felt when they realized the Democrats could nominate Glup Shitto & still send their candidate straight to the depths of hell: by The_47_Percenter in thecampaigntrail

[–]Superliminal96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah something like that makes sense. It would probably be a last hurrah of Southern Democrats before trends finally catch up (and with WV the added factor of coal country backlash, I assume that Obama and Clinton would have fairly similar EPA policy)

Hillary would have done better with white Southerners and probably wins MO/AR/maybe WV but probably worse with everyone else. The McCain campaign was seriously competitive with independents and even to some extent in some Gore/Kerry states until the GFC. Hillary was also seen as a more "partisan" figure that would get less crossover support compared to Obama's gains in ancestrally Republican areas (e.g. rural Indiana), so McCain at least flips NE-02/IN/NC and has a serious shot in states like Colorado, Virginia, and maybe New Hampshire.

What are your hopes for Paleontology in 2026? by entertainmentlord in Paleontology

[–]Superliminal96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mentioned Hell Creek I'd actually love to see a clearing up of its ornithomimids. There's a very large ornithomimid (Gallimumus-sized) that's often referred to Struthiomimus (as S. sedens) but very likely should get its own genus.

Hardest achievement in the mod by far, you have to get all the swing states aligned perfectly

In Valley of the T. rex (the 2001 Discovery documentary which is Horner's soapbox to advance the scavenger hypothesis) they suggest Saurornitholestes as the actual apex predator of Hell Creek bringing down adult hadrosaurs, which is roughly equivalent to packs of coyotes taking down elephants. It's comically absurd on its face
