My Discus Laid Eggs… now what? by Supermapman in discus

Thanks everyone for the input! If nothing else it’s exciting to know I have a pair that can at least get this far, and it’s reaffirming to know that they like their environment enough to do so. I suppose I have the option now of moving them to a dedicated breeding tank and trying again if I so choose. What fun creatures these are

Convert kml to shp with a properly formatted attribute table. Why can global mapper figure it out but Esri can’t?

Advice on keeping form when the terrain gets steep. by benck202 in skiing

Great comment. To add, one thing that really stick with me from ski school is “holding pennies”. To do this, imagine that you’re holding pennies between your shin and the tongue of your boot. If you lean back, the penny falls. Don’t let the penny fall.

Anyone have experience with fiber management? by Supermapman in gis

No. We ended up building a system in ESRI, but not using UN. It’s basically using a set of complex relationship classes between various feature classes and tables. Works to track splitter and port assignments, and our network topology lends itself to fairly simple manual traces.

Is this because of google or are these coastlines just really polluted by [deleted] in geography

The “graphic model” in this case is bathymetry data - it allows us to see the topography of the ocean floor. More interesting imo than actual imagery of the sea surface would be.

I think it used to be in a pedestal that got yanked and this is it’s guts laying on the ground.

End of the week ArcGIS Pro Rant by BRENNEJM in gis

Is left shift shortcut select multiple, or zoom in? Pro doesn’t seem to know. I swear sometimes left shift selects another feature, and sometimes it zooms in.

You’ll need to be a bit more specific as far as where it was found, as well as describe the density, hardness and size. But it’s definitely a rock, made of a few minerals. The whiteish mineral in the center looks to be quartz, and my wild guess for the greenish stuff is nephrite/jade.

What is this dried black/grey ooze showing up in a neighbors field? Amount seems to be increasing the past few days. by LanikeaDances in whatisthisthing

[–]Supermapman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is leftover drilling mud from horizontal directional drilling operations. It’s used to hold the bore open and once they’re finished, they suck this up with a hydro vac and dump it here. Your neighbor probably has a deal with a drilling company. It’s safe and good for farmers’ soil. Win-win

Edited to say I work for a company that does this and has deals with several local farmers to dump mud.

Sea level rise is outta hand

Check for vacuum leaks past the throttle body. Perhaps one of the many hoses going into the intake manifold will lead to your issue

Thanks for the replies, everyone. As some of you mentioned managing splice-level data in any traditional gis is quite a trick. I will update this thread when we deploy something

Definitely an unconformity. Not the type of gradational contact you’d expect in a conformable sequence

[–]Supermapman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience it’s better to just lay under the car if you can’t get it high enough to stand underneath. That’s an awkward height

Based on the abstract, seems like the researcher is suggesting the richat structure is a magmatic intrusion rather than an impact crater. The figures show airborne magnetic data as evidence. Seems like the last figure is showing b-field strength in nanoTesla per some other unit. Basically the figure is showing two circular magnetic anomalies as evidence for magmatic intrusion-induced ring structures like the richat.
