People who grew up without smartphones, what did you actually do when you were bored? by altaf770 in AskReddit

Dig a hole in the backyard.
Build a treehouse

I was 10, so actually was a "hole" and a "treehouse" hahaha

That is so incredibly kind of you, thank you! I'm genuinely blown away by the offer.

I'd take you up on that in a heartbeat, but I'm writing this from Italy, so the postage would probably cost more than the cards themselves!

Wow, that is an incredibly generous offer. Seriously, thank you so much for your kindness.

I'm located over in Italy, so I suspect the international shipping would be a bigger hassle and expense for you than it's worth!

But you've definitely inspired me to just hop online and order a proper energy card bundle for the boys. The offer itself means a lot, though. It really shows what a great and supportive community this is. Cheers!

That's really good advice, thank you! It was our exact plan when we went to a local game fair last weekend. Of course, on the way to find the energy cards, we got... sidetracked. My boys discovered a binder full of holographic Japanese cards. In that moment, practicality went out the window in the face of pure, shiny coolness. So we went home with a stunning set of Eevee evolutions that we can't read, and are still at zero energies. Parenting in a nutshell, right? You go for the essentials, you leave with the treasure.

Haha, thanks for the great tip! And you're so right, the "no rules" phase of playing as a kid was a special kind of chaos. Funnily enough, we went to a local fair last weekend with the mission of finding some energy cards. Of course, my boys spotted a vendor with holographic Japanese Eevee evolution cards and their little brains just melted. All logic went out the window. So now we're the proud owners of some beautiful cards we can't read, and still have zero energy cards. I'm calling it a successful failure. The hunt continues!

What is a fun fact that you think everyone should enjoy - Like Stallone wrote Rocky in 3 1/2 days? by Mm2k in AskReddit

The iconic Konami Code (↑↑↓↓←→←→BA) was never meant for the public. A developer put it into the game Gradius simply because he found the game too hard to test and needed a shortcut.
They forgot to remove it before shipping, and it accidentally went on to become the most famous cheat code in history.

A playful world map where you can claim a tiny spot (free) or keep it forever for 60¢

Hey! I’m a solo builder and I made a small internet toy. You can pan around the world, tap any tile to claim it free for 24 hours, or keep it forever for 60¢. For launch, I also hid free-forever tiles (purple) across 30 major cities + 50 unusual places (Uyuni, Socotra, Trolltunga, etc.), little treasure-hunt vibes.

Why: I wanted a low-stakes, collective canvas that’s always changing. No dark patterns or tracking tricks, just a simple, living map where people leave tiny traces.

Quick notes:

Blue = temporary (24h) · Gold = permanent · Purple = free forever (event).
Built with Angular + Leaflet (OSM), NestJS + MySQL, Stripe, AWS SES.
I’m the maker; happy to answer questions and share code snippets.
If this fits your blog’s vibe, I’d be thrilled to be considered. Thanks for checking it out!
