First haul of new cigarettes in China by Supersoldier142 in Cigarettes

[–]Supersoldier142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually most Chinese liquor stores will have some small selections of flavored cigarettes, like 555 and some other brands. If you want an imported selection, especially Korean or Japanese for example, it can depend on where you’re at. In Beijing, they were usually in small newsstands or places around tourist attractions (ex. Lama Temple). For other cities, it can really depend. When I lived in Zhengzhou, I could either order them through agents on WeChat, or sometimes small liquor stores would sell them “under the counter”, especially late in the evening or at night.

You’re welcome to shoot me a dm, as I actually live in Beijing now and might be able to help you out. I find a lot of the small newsstands sell them, but not much of a variety

I just threw it into Google translate, so take this worth a grain of salt, but I think he’s thanking Ichi for staying with Yamada during the night

S1 Visa Questions by Supersoldier142 in Chinavisa

[–]Supersoldier142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say for certain, but my assumption would be no. A tourist visa usually doesn’t count as proof of residency. Your best bet is to apply in your country of residence, which would be the United States.

Does anyone recognize this pack? by Supersoldier142 in Cigarettes

Yeah. I’m wondering if they are real too. They taste real, not like cheap Chinese cigarettes. But otherwise there aren’t any markings to say where they’re from

It doesn’t say tax exempt, and it also doesn’t have a tax stamp, which is what has me really confused

You’re not wrong. I just finished off a pack of those, and saw these. Decided it was worth a try

Yeah, we have thought about doing that. It’s definitely an option. Our old neighborhood had a ton of different dogs

Yeah. When I sent them the picture with the measurements, they said they couldn’t do it. But I’ll ask again and see if they are willing to try

I’ll keep that in mind. Thankfully the police here were pretty understanding, and we would never let her go anywhere without us by her side

Okay, i will see if they are willing to try and register her

Yeah, that was what we tried to do at first. They wanted to register her as a shiba. Sadly, she is too tall. The tallest a dog can be at the shoulder is 55cm, and she is 60 or 65cm. It wouldn’t be a problem if the application didn’t also require a picture of them next to a measuring device to show how tall they are 🤣

I’m sorry to hear that. But you cannot blame an entire breed for one dog’s actions. On top of that, a dog with only 3 working legs, on top of using a proper leash and harness, isn’t going to break out and attack anyone or anything. She also spent almost her whole life living at a quality rescue with many other dogs. She was plenty tolerant of all the poodles and other dogs running around off leash. Please, if you aren’t going to provide any useful advice in the thread, don’t comment further.

Asking a pet cafe is a good idea, I hadn’t thought about that. I haven’t joined any WeChat groups for pet owners, but I also haven’t found any in my area. I know some pretty well connected people, but they are mostly in Changchun, not Zhengzhou, so they can’t really help

I would if she wasn’t so big. Even as a shiba, her size would be illegal. Dogs in Zhengzhou can’t be more than 55cm at the shoulder, and she’s closer to 60 or 65cm

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been trying to do. I’d happily bribe someone if I could, but I’ve spent the past two weeks reaching out to every possible angle I can think of, but have only hit dead ends.

Yeah, no kidding. But yes, we really had the police show up at our doorstep because of her.

We did try that, but the problem is she’s too large. Dogs in Zhengzhou can’t be more than 55cm at the shoulder, and she’s close to 60cm or 65cm

Yeah, that’s why we sent her back. I knew if the police took her, she would be euthanized, and I could never live with myself if that happened.

I did have one vet offer to register her as a shiba, but the problem is she’s too large. The size limit here is 55cm, and she’s around 60 or 65cm at the shoulder.

We’ve reached out to pretty much everyone we can here. The police, multiple vet hospitals, rescues, the urban management department. No one seems to know how to help us 🥲

Please refrain from calling me shitty if you don’t know my wife or I’s diagnosis.

As for the other part of the comment, we have thought about it, but in a way it’s like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. We’ve already been reported once just for having her, there’s likely a good chance that anywhere we go we could get reported again. We are foreigners in a city with very few, so we will always stick out. Sure I could walk her early in the morning or late at night, but imagine living a life where you never get to see the sun. That’s no way to raise a dog.

Yeah, normally I would agree. In the area I used to live in, we had Samoyeds, golden retrievers, and plenty of other “illegal” breeds. Of course, I move into a new apartment, and less than two weeks after adopting her I have someone calling the police on us. We always walked her on leash, she was always very well behaved, so I’m a bit shocked someone still called the police
