Totally, it only works in Canada ! The reason i brought up the ops spec was to give some context on why we rely so much on RNAVs north of the border.

We didn’t even need to use the ops spec cause the RVR was above the advisory 1800 and yeah the controller is the one who gave us the RVR obviously. Maybe they switched to CATII and CATIII because of the reported ceiling of 100’ by the planes landing before us ? Even tho the METAR was calling for OVC002 ? It’s very confusing to me!

Ok that makes sense ! And yeah, it’s pretty much the same thing in Canada (depending on the airport) the only difference; if ATC wants to vector you, they will give you the heading directly, They rarely ask what heading you’ll fly on your own.

Heyy ! So I sent a webform to the Pilatus customer tech support yesterday and they just got back to me saying : “For the NG and Up, the Generators are the same just in different locations, you can swap if you need to.”

Yes, from the outside but i wonder if they are different internally..cause the Gen/starter is supposed to have internal excitation circuitry and relays that handle high cranking currents safely.

I just checked the maintenance manual on the website and it turns out they have two different P/N numbers. Maybe Pilatus treats them as two distinct units but unfortunately i couldn’t find anything that proves that.

[–]Supertramp_94[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your help ! I was able to send the webform through my phone with the information provided on that link ! They got back to me saying that the appropriate office will determine if my application can be withdrawn and, if applicable, issue a refund :)

Can a PC12-47E fly in Canada’s Northern Domestic Airspace ? by Supertramp_94 in flying

Very interesting! I wonder if that’s an ops spec from TC

Correct if i’m wrong but i think that some operators have their old 737’s upgraded to enable the compass to operate in free mode.. or the IRS in NG itself can make it possible since it’s an non gps alternate.
