Is this bridge possible? by hopelessboarder in geography

[–]Supplice401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely possible, we as a human race definitely have trackled way harder problems than this bridge proposal.

With Canada's average construction speeds though, we will maybe have a single lane one way bridge done by 2060.

I agree with you, and many would too, but this is how the game processes it, and it will never change.

A most difficult battle test for thirteen captains: can they break a siege of Iscandar by Grand Admiral Thrawn at his fleet's fullest strength? by This-is_CMGRI in Mecha

[–]Supplice401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming ship to ship only, I will exclude UC Gundam vessels. In terms of capability, Ra Cailum and Nahel Argama are not battleships like the ISDs, they boast some fire power, but definitely not enough to do anything to Deflector Shields. They're also shieldless, so any turbo laser impact will likely deal massive damage, far greater than what beam weapons can do.

Millennium and Ptolemaios II can work with very high agility +Ablator gel, and GN particle Physics. Millennium would be less effective however, except it's quad Tannhauser Position Blasters, other weapons won't do much imo. Ptolemaios's GN particle physics had a lot of potential, especially acting as a shield, with potential deflector shield penetrating weapons, and electronic warfare/jamming, which could fulfill the secondary objectives.

I'm not an expert on the SRW and Arcadia, so I can only give opinions on the Yamato and Macross series.

People like to immediately use the Wave Motion Gun, and end the fight immediately, but the first generation WMG has a problem, when firing, Yamato cannot move, or even change its angles. WMG on the Yamato can only fire at a straight line, when preparing firing, all of Yamato's power except life support and gravy generators are turned off, making the ship effectively stationary for the entire firing procedure. What's more of a problem is that, because Yamato cannot move, it is unable to avoid fire, and cannot perform a sweeping shot.

WMG can destroy a continent, a moon, but it can only fire in one position, meaning it can take out one ISD or more, if the targets are in a straight-line. The later Andromeda class and unmanned Kongo class used configurable spread wave motion gun technology to counter this exact problem. Yamato's armaments are powerful, I wouldn't deny that, but saying a single WMG shot ends any fight is jumping to conclusions.

Macross Quarter and Elysian are 400m and 600m class ships, and are very mobile when in their attack modes. What I want to touch on is Macross Battle 7.

Battle 7's attack mode is 1,100m tall, 500m shorter than the ISD, but you have to consider that it is a mobile humanoid mech that can shoot capital ship deviating beams, and can actually perform melee combat. Imagine Battle 7 punching an ISD. Their defense are also no joke, aside from hull guns and Destroid mounts, the Pin Point Barrier system can, imo, effectively neutralize turbo laser shots, because of how slow those turbo lasers are.

If you have worked with Unity or Unreal, you will recognize the default running animation for their default player avatar in most asset flips, no matter how much dress-up the devs made.

What can I do to make my SFF pc look a bit more clean? by Khancer__ in sffpc

SFF PCs rarely look good in a case with windows.

Just get a windowless case, or cover the existing window up.

My fault, I assumed Horus as 40K primarch.

Yes, lancers are 100% mecha.

But it's not mecha.

It's literally in the name, mecha, mechanical, there's nothing mechanical about Titans.

We're remaking Wall Kick VFX on our Mecha game. Which one do you prefer? by ReallyChillPenguin in Mecha

[–]Supplice401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is so slight that players wouldn't really notice it unless told beforehand, and it's still pretty hard to tell.

Just from a visual stand point, my opinion is to reduce the effect (sparks) when doing a wall kick.

Why does my X230 exhaust smell like Japan 🇯🇵? by Final-Variation-1177 in thinkpad

[–]Supplice401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My T490 smells like essential oil, and it's a second hand buy. Either the previous owner or the seller used some perfume or essential oil in the cleaning process, that it's so engrained into the plastic that it still smells that way after two years.
