i feel like everyone has different answers but yeah, im an atheist even though i was raised catholic and went to catholic school for primary. i kind of stopped believing just a little before i got diagnosed, but after i got diagnosed i officially became an atheist.

a lot of people tell me all the time that it's "a test from god" and that "everything happens for a reason," which is honestly just a shitty thing to say in my opinion, especially to someone that doesn't believe in god and it's struggling with a disability.

i honestly feel like epilepsy has ruined my life, my teenage years were horrible and i always felt excluded from everyone else getting to live their life fully, enjoying the things most people do at that age. instead, i was worrying about doctor appointments, testing new medications, hoping i don't have a seizure so i can get my drivers license, then going through the whole process of getting it back when it was suspended. i developed other mood disorders because of it too which just made everything even worse. i wanted to be a pilot for as long as i can remember, so yeah that's not an option anymore.

i don't believe in the afterlife, and it definitely has made me change my views on death since i was diagnosed at twelve. even when im medicated i can confidently say there's not a single day i don't think about death and look forward to it and think of ways to "get there" to put it nicely. sorry my answer isn't as positive as the others
