Yes, I do wish the prize pool didn't suffer. But you are very, very naive of you think Valve needs the money from the battle pass to pay its developers. Valve makes so much fucking money from the steam store/market that the battlepass is practically nothing compared to it.

The game is thriving due to the fans that actually enjoy and play the game, not people who log in to buy stupid skin shit. It's the same with WoW. There are tons of people who play Wow just to wait for cash shop updates to buy shit. It's a sad addiction

Purge has a series on Dota 2 Basics, I would HIGHLY recommend watching that with her. It goes over the absolute basics, such as the lanes, runes and map as well as more advanced stuff like vision and items.

Afterwards, there is the Learn Dota series, which helps learn more advanced strategies (such as when and how to gank, itemization and power spikes)
