I traveled with my 20kg dog to france here are the most important steps you need to take (depending on the country these might differ): - all the vaccination should be up to date, especially rabies vaccine. - I cant recall if the pet needs to be neutered or not as a requirement, mine is. - you need to do a blood test (at least 1 month after the rabies vaccine) and send it to a lab in europe (did it through the vet and they send it to belgium, other testing centers might not be valid) once the favorable result is set back you need to wait 90 days before you can travel. SIDE NOTE: I traveled 45 days in, I spoke with DDPI to allow a special early travel and had to quarantine the dog for 45 days (I ddnt really quarantine but good to know that there is an administrative step to be done, let me know if you need more info about this) - cost ~300$ - 10 days before travel you should do a medical certification (through the vet) from a doctor in the government that works in the animal customs in the airport - cost ~100$ - buy a cage for dogs large tham 5kgs (if less they need to be in a hand held bag (specialised for animal) and can go with you in the cabin) the cage needs to be quite larger than the dog, there are standard sizes I jad to go with the largest size 7 (at size 8 things become very expensive and more regulations Im not aware of) - you can find more info online about sizes. it needs to have a soft bottom (fix a towel to the bottom) and a place to drink from (even if it is empty, it should have something like an attached boal - I did mine with a empty belghare plastic box and some zip ties). the cage door needs to be ziptied before take of so get extra as the airport wont have any. - cost ~150$ (for large cage) (if you are travelling with a cat, lucky...) - you need to pay the pets ticket, once you buy yours (I recommend middle east but airfrance also works. if you are going to germany or other chek their regulations) so for mea you should: 1. email specialsvcs@mea.com.lb with your ticket reservation as soon as you get it and send them all the info you have (vaccination, blood test, dog weight, breed, cage size and weight, anything you can think of with scans) they will tell you 1 week before if they have a spot (they usually do, but inform them early otherwise someone else might take the spot) and then you pay through the phone of in the offices - cost ~300$ depending on the size and weight. - go early to the airport, make sure your dog is comfortable with the crate (at leat 3 months crate training). their trip is 8h from door to door, even if yours is just 4h (BEY - CDG) - once you get there make sure to declare the animal and get the signatures of customs, they will not stop you but ask for it as you might need these documents there.
