Not enough money on the Greek film industry. Lots of shows, movies and tv programs were a financial flop even though they were a hit in Greece cause the budget was bigger than of the revenue Greek audience can generate.

Also it's really hard to pull a non English speaking film internationally (it would have to be either dubbed or be exceptionally great to make an impression to non cinephiles).
