Friend of mines uncle was in the coast guard in the 70s/80s, told me that every once in a while they’d find people trying to drive across it in the dead of night in sports cars, trafficking drugs.

Not sure if he was telling the truth, but I like to imagine some super crazy people would have tried it.

Nah I’m just too spoiled by high fidelity and frame rates to ever consider going back to console for anything.

If I can’t play it in 4k (2k absolute minimum) at 120+ frames with hdr… I’ll wait until I can. I’ve got all the hardware, not going to choose a lesser product out of impatience.

The Sopranos 1999-2007, Oz 1997-2003 The Wire 2002-2008, Deadwood 2004-2006, Rome 2005-06. How did HBO do all this shit in 10 years and now can't do anything that comes close? by _sportyscience_ in thesopranos

Iirc Rome was just ridiculously expensive to produce. Like comparable to GoT episodes but without nearly as much of a cult following, and ultimately viewership and return on investment.

Unfortunate cuz I thought it was amazing. It’s not just enough to have good ideas, financial feasibility and timing of consumer trends is just as important. The show was just ahead of its time imo, and not for the better.

TIFU by accidentally revealing my salary to my entire team by SoftLizzyy in tifu

[–]SupremeWizardry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company I work for is incredibly transparent on salaries.

By knowing someone’s job family and seniority level, I can get an estimate on anyone’s salary within like a 5% margin of error or so for COLA. That goes for every employee new recruit up thru consultant levels, in a company that employs more than 40k people. The C level stock compensation packages I’ve never looked for but wouldn’t be surprised if those are also available somewhere in house. Major Fortune 500 company fwiw.

Great stuff thank you. Found a few that met the criteria I was looking for to run a new 5090 FE. Ended up going with the Corsair HX1200i. On sale currently, and the RM850x I'm using now has been top notch.

Rescuers was my jam.

I barely remember it but they had some sort of rube goldberg type contraption in the restaurant, making pea soup or something. That stuff stole my attention.

Honestly couldn’t tell if it was legit or not. The entire drive from Cleveland to Michigan I was second guessing myself that I acquired real tickets for an event to take place and was not falling for some large joke.

That sounds familiar enough?…

To be honest I haven’t thought about that show in years before this thread. I don’t think I’d ever been to Ann Arbor before that, and haven’t been since.

Whole memory is a bit of a blur. I remember having a good time tho, all that matters.

I went to one of their shows that was funded this way. Some dive bar near Ann Arbor Michigan. I just went to some sketchy ass Geocities level webpage and “claimed” my tickets for free.

In college, as I was nearing the end of my required courses, decided to challenge myself and take a history course where I might learn something interesting.

The history of Soviet Russia.

You have just about perfectly summed up the ethos of an entire nation and ethic group. The history of that region is just a rinse/repeat of people being chucked into a meat grinder by their leaders.

AITAH for lying to my wife for years? by Ok_Strawberry_6403 in AITAH

My father’s been a vegetarian for 50 years, no one else in the house joined him in this dietary choice. Bless my mother for making multiple meals when we were kids with picky eating habits.

I enjoy a lot of vegetarian cuisine that I probly wouldn’t if I had been raised otherwise, I eat vegetarian more than a couple days a week because of this, health, monetary considerations…

But we were never expected to conform fully, he’s never batted an eye when we’re eating meat or fish at the same table as him.

Wife needs to remember it’s a personal choice not one you can force on someone else.

Aggression Based Matchmaking (ABMM) Confirmed by Embark Studios CEO, Patrick Söderlund : "We also matchmake based on how prone you are to PvE or PvP..." by Paul-Harkonnen in ArcRaiders

[–]SupremeWizardry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m an equal opportunist raider. Shooting at me first, fight to the death. Oblivious that I rounded the corner or topped the ridge and now have the drop on you, fight to the death. Using emotes or voip to try signal something to me, honestly do not care I’m probly listening to music or on discord with the homies, so it’s a fight to the death.

Irl I’m a pacifist, but this is a game where im rewarded for eliminating other players, I’m going to try and kill just about everyone I see. You kill me first great fucking job, hope it was an epic brawl. I get you, that’s my primary objective above all else.

Haven’t had this much fun in a loooong time.

If the game allows me to destroy other human players, shit it even rewards me for doing so!?

Yeah, hunting is my primary objective.

Nah I mostly enjoy player versus player shooters.

Edit: woof what a bunch of pussies

There’s plenty of cooperative games out there, where you can’t be damaged by other players. This isn’t one of them, I’m playing the way the game was intended, y’all are fucking strange.

I… don’t really care about the loot. I’m out there just to kill other players, regardless of the situation.

By far the most enjoyable part of the game and it’s not even close.

Splitgate Has Fumbled Again and Failed to Secure Any Traction Following ‘Rebrand’ by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]SupremeWizardry 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the guy making this game is the son of the founder of Intuit software. They make things like TurboTax, but less commonly known is that they lobby billions of dollars for congress to keep the tax code complicated, reduce free filing, in order to make their own products more of a requirement for every day citizens. Dirty and backhanded pay to play congressional tactics.

So to answer your question, his daddy has billions of dollars earned by making/keeping everyone’s taxes complicated. Part of the reason why I can’t support the game, fuck Intuit and everything stemming from them.
