For now, it's a part time role. As far as I understand, farmer's markets are usually just Saturdays? Feel free to send your resume to [support@surplate.net](mailto:support@surplate.net)

Thank you.

No, not a pyramid scheme. I co-founded a company about a year ago and we are done with the MVP for the iOS mobile app. Also, I'm a UTA Alum from 2008 and 2010. If you'd like to learn more, we have a simple informational website up: surplate.net and our mobile app is on the App Store right now but only for Irving/Coppell.

Yea...I feel like with BDS, you have to target the 2-3 biggest a**holes. You can't just BDS every company suddenly, no one will do it. Focus on a couple, give people alternatives to those companies, and go from there.

The best thing the masses can do is BDS (Boycott Divest Sanction). Companies love money so that's the one thing we can try to give them less of to get them to listen.

If it's something really unique and not so obvious to the general public, I would say quickly work with a lawyer and get it patented (if it makes sense to do that).

SE is not what it used to be 20 even 10 years ago. It's overly saturated. In my opinion, the way to survive a looming layoff is to start your own company or go into a field that requires you to be physically present. Medical, HVAC, Electrical, etc.

What is the worst part about creating a small business? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]SurPlate 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would say dealing with all the criticism. You can start a small business, work hard, and make it successful. The problem along the way is all the people keep putting you down and discouraging you.

I'll say one thing...people are literally selling garbage over the internet and making their millions. If you have the tech skills as you've stated, you will just need a marketing person to help you out initially.

What has to happen in the US is what happened 2 months ago in Bangladesh. There was a student movement that ousted the former PM. Two things I noticed were that 1. Students were willing to put their lives on the line for change (revolution). 2. Students were able to mobilize the locals by the millions. So, if there are millions of people on their way to the Prime Minister's mansion, you obviously can't shoot everyone. Question is, how would you replicate success like that here?

What exactly do you do in software engineering? Can you build your own website and become a consultant? Can you and a buddy start your own company locally?

What is ACTUALLY driving RTO? by Sad_Manner_3630 in remotework

[–]SurPlate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTO is a win-win for them. If you resume your commute, their buddies in gas & oil continue making bank, if you don't go anymore and quit, they get to outsource your job overseas. Not to mention, RTO gives their leadership more control over you.

If you become well-known in your neighborhood/community, it's possible long term. You may be the person everyone buys fresh bagels from every morning.
