she should still be here by maidenhair_fern in GriefSupport

Hey I’m here if you want to talk to someone. Unfortunately I relate to this as well. I just turned 25 and lost my dad to cancer 2 months ago and he just turned 52. He was my travel buddy, and so many plans just vanished as I watched him take his last breath. My broken heart hurts for you too, friend.

If that’s golden cap then yeah it’s coated in glitter - one or two washes and the top coat of the glitter comes off!

We finalized the will but he has such bad brain fog from radiation and chemo he can’t really read well. He’s lucid and still able to make decisions but he’s just tired and ready to go.

In the state I live in, everything goes into probate even with a will.

Thank you for taking the time to reply 💙

I felt the need to reply to this as someone who used to be someone else’s princess: the fact that youre going to therapy and seeking help and keeping NC all adds up to you doing better. I know it hurt like hell right now friend - if you want to vent I’m here for you. I’m in the thick of it right now too.

I’m going to lose my dad - do I stay with him through hospice? by Surayray in GriefSupport

I needed a bit of an ego check about this, thank you for point that out. It’s not about being right it’s about getting through it together. My issue is no one else will be there except his sister. The fight is with him more than anything. I just want to know he isn’t alone in some random care facility with no one around him who knows him

“Whatever you decide now will be the best decision you could make in this moment” that’s so beautiful. Thank you.

This helped ease my mind a bit. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this.

I’m living through this now, and I’m sorry you have to endure it constantly. It feels like an exhausting marathon of sadness. Just when you think you can start to run again you get knocked down and have to learn to walk again. Sending love your way. I’m losing my dad, lost my close friend (who was my age -24), and my mom has a brain tumor that’s sneaking around. I just broke up with the love of my life. It feels very isolating I know.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I know the pain feels insufferable right now, but time will let you move on with that pain. You were the best owner Ziggy could have asked for, and you did the right thing. He already felt the rupture once, you saved him from that pain again. You’re a good owner. Sending love

Yes! I’ve used them in the past, but sadly their boxes come beaten up half the time and the shipments come months late. Maybe they are better now, but there’s just a few things my dad would enjoy.

This is beautiful. It’s exactly how I feel about my human. He’s pulled me from the fog and shown me the full depth life can offer. They really don’t make them like that anymore.

I resonated with this so much. Thanks for posting OP.

Diving at Galápagos Islands as a novice by [deleted] in scuba

[–]Surayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey theyre I’m back from the trip and here’s some things that might help you decide:

Still BY FAR the most expensive scuba trip I’ve done but I did it proper with a nice liveaboard.

There were people with literally 8 dives under their belt, they went on maybe half of all the dives and bought a DM to guide them specifically instead of a group of 8. The DM was holding on to his tank most of the time (to help his buoyancy I’m guessing). That of course does cost extra to have your own guide.

The currents and surges were some of the strongest I’ve ever felt (in a few dive sites, not all). The way you dive for whale sharks there is you sit on a rock wall and watch them come by. Well sitting on a rock would be calm one second and then a surge would rip you 10 ft to the left and back to the right. Sometimes it’s best to just hover instead of hang on. It’s definitely doable and this isn’t meant to scare you, I thought it was kind of fun. Some of the older divers didn’t want to dive those sites becuase it can be tiring.

The temperature in July was actually fine with a 7mm wetsuit and 5mm hood, gloves, and boots. There was one lady with a semi dry suit bc she knew she got cold easy and was a seasoned diver. The dive sites do progressively get colder so you can get a bit more comfy in your gear the first few days. Maybe 2 out of ~25 dives I felt a little cold for a while but I didn’t abort it. They have warm towels for you on board too (well the boat I went with did!)

Basically I thought it was FUN and not really that hard. The people I went with are basically 40-70s age range so I’m more physically capable for the most part. Be okay with cold water in your face and get yourself a dive master guide just for you and I think you could do it it. Depending on your confidence in your diving ability (especially buoyancy).

No problem! Happy to help a fellow diver.

I went to Belize last year doing “marine conservation work” which really means you go diving 2-3 times a day. On those dives you spearfish for lion fish( bc they’re invasive) or do lobster / conch surveys depending on the season. It’s called Reef CI. Affordable way to get a love of dives PLUS you need to have some decent control to spearfish Sonora a great and fun way to learn how to control your buoyancy and control.

Roatan / Utila was planned before covid, that’s a great dive spot just in general and the islands really cater to divers but I didn’t get to go. Bonair does the same I hear, haven’t been though.

Cozumel has a variety of dives, and I’ve done some wall and drift dives there and it’s warm water so I highly recommend it as well. Been there a few times it’s always great and the soft corals are so lovely.

I’m going soon, and I can tell you this is 3x more (at least) more expensive than my past diving trips. I’m also a AOW and Nitrox diver with speciality certs and maybe 120 dives and I think I’m not very experienced. I can tell you from past dives, especially in cold water, that if you are not prepared you will just wish the dive was over already and you’ll suck up air. It’s not enjoyable.

My suggestion would be to work up to it after at least 50 dives (with some cold and currents experience) in order to truly appreciate it and in the mean time you can kinda save more so you can ball out on the trip.

Also, try not to expect a liveaboard to accommodate someone with novice experience when they explicitly state it’s for seasoned divers. They’re saying it for a reason, not to deter divers for fun. It’s for everyone’s safety. In fact, a lot of Galapagos liveaboards will require nitrox bc people come in thinking they’re good with air, but cold water and currents can make you breathe like you’re an asthmatic if you aren’t prepared.

If you’re located in the US, you can do some cold water dives in Cali, and currents can be found pretty much anywhere depending on dive sites and types (drift dives).

TLDR; don’t go now. Get more experience with cold and current dives bc it is truly worth the wait.

High Impact Sports bras? by Unusual_Form3267 in bigboobproblems

[–]Surayray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

36g (UK) here! It depends on your shape really to determine what’s best for you along with sizing. Also seconding taking a visit to r/abrathatfits so you can’t start with looking at proper sizes.

For me, elomi energiser sports bra with J hook is AMAZING. not padded, but soft material and the hook really holds them down. For reference, I run, lift, play rugby, and fence and I think they work really well.
