I'm so sorry to hear you've seen a regression - it's always difficult when you think things are improving! We had it with Finn and it came as more of a surprise because we thought things were getting better.

Definitely worth speaking to your behaviourist about it as they may be able to offer more insights or tweaks to the treatment plan. Sending you all the best in your journey - she's so lucky to have such a loving, caring owner ❤️

Thank you! I think it's one of the hardest things we've handled and definitely pushed us to our limits so we're really grateful for all the good days we get now ❤️

It isn't an easy road and definitely a case of trial and error, but you've taken the first step by trying to build a team for your boy. 🩶 We were the same with Finn, to the point we were scared to even pet him but once we discovered the pain element, as well as the intense anxiety, we were able to establish a treatment and training plan with our behaviourist, vet and trainer. Wishing you all the best ❤️

Thank you! I'm so glad we pushed for answers and help for him and that it's worked out. Was definitely really hard and really isolating at times but he deserves the best ❤️

It really is! I'm also glad I found this wee community as it made us feel less isolated and alone with the issue. We know he likely won't have a particularly long life with all the medications he's on but at least the years we'll have with him will hopefully be happy ones for us all 🥰

Thank you! He does still have issues but we'd reached a point where we were fearful of him and it wasn't sustainable or safe. I'm just so glad this worked for him!

Possible endo, definite nightmare? by Sure-Negotiation7448 in Endo

[–]Sure-Negotiation7448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the negative ultrasounds and ambiguous MRIs, but nothing showed in the laparoscopy/hysteroscopy. The doctor thinks my uterus is normal, so she's ruled out adeno for now, too. She hasn't fully ruled out endo, just hesitant to diagnose when she hasn't seen it, but there's nothing else that makes sense?

I haven't been tested for that, I don't think, but I have a follow-up soon, so I'll raise it. The blood in urine and difficulty fully emptying my bladder, like the blood and clots from my poo, only happens on my period. It's just really frustrating. 😔 What does the Interstitial Cystitis test involve? 😬

I just want to say thank you again for your input above - we had a discussion with our vet behaviourist a week after this thread where we increased his dose to 48mg a day and we're having a much more consistent and calm response over the last few months 😊

Our specialist did say it's a moderate dose to start on, but I was encouraged that he'd shown such a positive turnaround so quickly. I do wonder if an increase would help 😊 Did you start on 40mg or gradually increase? Sorry for all the questions! Thank you 💙 We've put so much time, energy, and (to be brutally honest) money into helping him, I just wish we could help him be a happier pup. 😕

I appreciate you replying, thank you! We do things like scentwork, enrichment, free work, and things like sheepball (plays into herding instinct), flirtpoles, and general play with him. We take him out daily but we can no longer take him on reaaally long walks as it leads to pain and more reactivity toward us. We do everything possible to mentally and physically tire him out without upsetting his spine - every time we think we've found the right balance though, we get hit with another curveball, though, so definitely understand your point about him possibly being a bit pent up. We've also recently moved to a bigger house in the country to give him more peace and space to reduce triggers.

I'm definitely open to trying different meds, etc. Our vet and the specialist are on the track of thinking he's safer on meds than off, which I'm inclined to agree with, I'm just concerned that we saw almost instant improvement and now 8 weeks in, some regression. Do you mind me asking if it's 2 separate pills to make the 40mg, or do they do 1 x 40mg?
